Prentice S (au) wrote: "Maps to the Stars" is an interesting film, but one that doesn't live up to the legacy of David Cronenberg or the star power that the film possesses. John Cusack, Mia Wasikowska, Olivia Williams, and Evan Bird all do tremendous work to show how dysfunctional a family can be, but the story is so shakey and in-human that it's impossible to care about the outcome. By the end, I'm sort of waiting for them all to implode on themselves and when they do, I find myself satisfied, but not for the right reasons. I can't bring myself to dislike "Maps to the Stars," but I can't find a way to love it either.

However there were a handful of small comedic spots from France to Moscow. The title was off - nothing was that planned not perfect. We had fun watching it too.

McTeer plays a musicologist in 1907. She travels through the backwoods of the Appalachian Mountains and collects musical song and history that has been passed down for generations. One of the locals (Quinn) feels that she is exploiting the area people for her own gain.

Robert H (de) wrote: I honestly had no idea of what to expect with THIS IS SPINAL TAP, with the exception of a couple of bits that have entered the pop culture lexicon (the Marshall amp bit, for instance). What I got was...ok, I guess? It wasn't exactly a laugh-riot, but there were a number of recurring funny bits. Still, there were too many stretches that I didn't find funny at all. Fortunately, the songs were well-written and performed. Otherwise, I would have been mostly bored. Overall, it was a mixed bag in terms of comedy, although it did have a few amusing insights into the over-the-top-ness of rock bands. Maybe it would have been funnier if I'd been born 20 years earlier.

Monique M (ag) wrote: Oh my goddess, I remember watching this film back in Freshman year when I had Spanish class and it was just absolutely boring and terrible. I didn't understand the plot and the kid acting like an animal or whatever in the beginning of the film was just what the actual hell to me. Throughout the film, I wasn't even paying attention and I had to sketch doodles in order to kill much time. This movie was just ugh, horrible! Not worth watching it again. It's too confusing and boring to me. Just dumb.
James H (ag) wrote: This is one of those films where you have to put your mindset in the year it was made. This was quite unique and revolutionary at the time, particularly the combination of the real footage with dramatic footage, and it worked quite well. Also, the nude scenes were very controversial at the time. It's filmed very simply, especially the cinematography. Good and real performances. Very believable done. Quite interesting, but it has lost some of it's punch over the years.

Jason T (gb) wrote: A decent indie film with a good story and nice performances. Its predictable and drags a little in the middle but its an entertaining and fun.
