MF J (nl) wrote: Clint Eastwood, a veteran director delivers a polite and well executed biopic about one of the most controversial and enigmatic figures of the 20th century in America. Obsessed with the red invasion, J Edgar seems to have dedicated his life to eradicate communism from the surface of the earth. Struggling with his own demons and some personal secrets, the man remained dedicated and focused on his task till his dying breath. On a technical level , the film is really well shot and the sets are lavishly reconstituted. This may not appeal to everyone, but personally i was glad to watch it.
Christian M (ca) wrote: Well directed and acted although at times I found the characters to be really irritatingly selfish and unlikable but overall, I enjoyed it.

JJ W (gb) wrote: I want to preface this by saying you probably won't like this movie. You'll either buy into the concept or you won't. Additionally you'll probably hate the girls, which is why this movie is secretly genius. Some have made the accusation that the acting in this film is poor and that is the furthest from the truth. 15 year old small town girls in trouble (or in general) act EXACTLY like this: annoying, over-dramatic, self-involved, and completely ineffective in a crisis situation. That's why I had to promise my doctor, my rabbi, and the local authorities that i would stop dating teenagers. And I'm not even Jewish. Now that's serious. But I digress. Get a group of friends together and give this flick a shot.

Daniel P (kr) wrote: Outstanding and affecting Quebecois film about growing up in gay in the 1960s and about the bond of family and the changing attitudes of an entire people, localized in one (traditionally large, Catholic) family with five sons. The film takes great advantage of fair use laws to get snippets of very well-known songs into the film - I presume; I don't think a Canadian independent budget would cover Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane, Patsy Cline and more! - and it's beautifully shot and acted. It's one that might be hard to find outside of Canada, but it's a movie that's not to be missed.
