Forest fires burn in Sumatra; a smoke covers Kuala Lumpur. Grifters beat an immigrant day laborer and leave him on the streets. Rawang, a young man, finds him, carries him home, cares for him, and sleeps next to him. In a loft above lives a waitress. She sometimes provides care and attention. More violence seems a constant possibility. They find another man abandoned on the street, paralyzed. They carry him. While no one speaks to each other, sounds dominate: coughing, cooking, coupling, opening bags; music and news reports on a radio, the rattle and buzz of a restaurant. It's dark in the city at night. We see down hallways, through doors, down alleys. Who sleeps with whom?

Tanner B (de) wrote: Black Dynamite ?? 1/2 C-84m. D: Scott Sanders. Super-cool black detective Black Dynamite uses his own breed of justice to take care of injustice. Deliberately spoofy exploitative exploitation of blaxploitation action films from the 1970s (say that 5 times fast!) has the similar look, the correct feel, and even the right sex of the genera, and it's very funny at times. Gets a bit dry during the second half, but it's still enjoyable. Sanders also manages to maintain the same mood for the entire picture and never takes his material seriously.
Paul B (ru) wrote: Strange haunting love story about two ghost-like characters who break into empty houses but never speak throughout the entire film. Revolves around the relationship between a young drifter and an abused housewife. Worth a second viewing if only to uncover the layers of meaning.

Matthew K (br) wrote: Is it a great film? No. The plot is very sloppy, and the resolution is not the best. The characters are a bit one-dimensional.But... the gags in this are pretty darn funny, catching me off-guard several times. The character designs are creative. This film is definitely an interesting experience.
Morten (de) wrote: This is an overlooked Craven movie. It's pretty damn good actually. It's one of those horror movies that doesn't show any real violence, but instead focuses on the psychical aspects. And it treats these psychical with a lot of tension and akward scenes. Lee Purcell (playing a strange cusine) practically steals Linda Blair's identity. Linda Blair's mission is to show her closest that Lee Purcell is an evil witch, but with everyone (including her own family) finding Purcell to be a sweetheard this gets diffelcult. The movie is packed with erotic undetones with some of them being more obscure than others. This movie is watchable!

Frances H (us) wrote: I remember seeing most of these as shorts on Then Wonderful World of Disney on TV when I was little, so they are very nostalgic for me, and probably those of my generation. However, since where made from mostly popular music from the 40s, much of seems dated now, although the animation is still spectacular. What makes Fantasia timeless is that the music is classical, and therefore timeless as well.

Gerry (kr) wrote: Hammer may have perfected horror, but their science fictions are magnificent, with "X" comparing favorably with their "Quatermass" films. Great cast (dig Anthony Newley getting toasted!), and a great premise. Seriously, what's more original-the umpeenth alien invasion from outer space, or sentient, radioactive mud popping up on the Moors? Great stuff, ya betcha! I wonder if Jack Harris and/or Irving Yeoworth used this as inspiration for THE BLOB. Hmm.....
