(br) wrote: a very promising premise, but ultimately fell short in deliverance. the notion of having two actors interact with each other in different eras is all at once romantic and enchanting. however, the dialogue was really vague and did little to develop the characters. there were too many moments of silence which made the scenes feel redundant. moreover, each "episode" is never conclusively ended and so there is a deep sense of feeling unfulfilled. a one time viewing is recommended for novelty's sake, but probably not "three times".

(ru) wrote: An inexplicable sequel! It looks so '80s still, even though it's 1993 and is essentially a b-grade action movie. Emilio Estevez tries too hard (the fake mo is so distracting!) and Rosie O'Donnell is annoying and the whole movie is quite slow, with not much action or comedy!

(br) wrote: Get the Gringo is one of those movies people most likely saw on Netflix starring a washed up actor and passed over it. That is a big mistake if you are looking for an entertaining 90 minutes with an intriguing story. The premise was simple and to the point. There was no backstory, not much character development and none of it was needed to craft this great film. Mel Gibson is out for a bit of revenge and on the side helps out a boy and his mother, all inside a Mexican prison (if Mexico prisons are really like this, wow they have it easy). The plot is fast paced and there are plenty of tense moments and some very fun shootouts. If you don't like Gibson, put that aside for a bit and check this movie out because it is well worth anyones time.
