I Love You, Man
Peter Klaven is a successful real estate agent who, upon getting engaged to the woman of his dreams, Zooey, discovers, to his dismay and chagrin, that he has no male friend close enough to serve as his Best Man. Peter Klaven's world revolves around his real estate work and Zooey, his soon-to-be fiancée. After he pops the question, she calls her best friends and they go into wedding planning mode. Peter has no male friends and that poses problems: will he turn out to be a clingy guy, and who will be his best man? Zooey, her friends, and Peter's brother Robbie offer help that results in awkward moments. Then, at an open house Peter's hosting, he meets Sydney, an amiable, low-key guy. It might not be innovative or fancy or try to change the world of documentary film making but it shouldn't have to. That would take away from this powerful message that there is something severely wrong with our military system. The heart of this film is definitely the personal tales and interviews of the many women (and men) who went through sexual assault. I literally say stunned at the end of the movie.

It's well paced and has great and original story to it. Just like Roger Elbert said, this is really one of the smarter modern horror teenage movies. And the deaths scenes for the characters and over the top, very creative. Recommended !!
(jp) wrote: The third of four (FOUR!) versions of the material, this one plays with some decent variations on the familiar tropes, but it feels way too small in scope to properly service the concept. The cast is good, and Ferrara tries to keep things interesting from a visual standpoint, but as I said, the limited focus doesn't give him too much room to really make this version stand apart (in a positive way) from the two vastly superior previous entries. Still, it's better than THE INVASION, but that's not really saying a whole lot.

Most of full frontal nudity scenes didn't irritate me such many films do. The lead couple actors were amazing in their complex roles especially Jean-Hugues Anglade. Its surreal story was hard to love but interesting. Beautiful music composed by Gabriel Yared. Definitely a must-see french art house film for movie geeks.
(kr) wrote: Not the greatest Ophuls film. The camera work is stunning of course and the three stories are intellectually interesting. However, I wasn't especially engaged by the middle story which also happens to be the longest. The first one is best and is totally stunning visually.
(de) wrote: Standard rom com but played with zest by the cast, Wayne is relaxed and pleasant, Colbert spunky and best of all Don DeFore is a breezy sidekick.

While they are there they have problems with the weather, Indians, and the damn British! This is Ford's 1st color film and it looks great. It was all shot on location in Utah and it is one of the best looking films of its time. There is a chase scene where 3 Indians are chasing Fonda through the plains and wilderness that is intense and gorgeous.
