robert c (ca) wrote: Unbelievably great. It is basically the entire story of Esther (Old Testament) put to a motion picture. An excellent movie, especially if you read the book before or after.

Rachel S (fr) wrote: We are allowing Corps to kill us off thanks to companies having patents on manipulating our FOOD! Depressing. Monsanto is an evil company.

Stuart K (ca) wrote: Co-written and produced by David Zucker, who was looking for something else to spoof after The Naked Gun films were over with, he looked to the cinematic sub-genre of inspirational teachers films, like Stand and Deliver (1986) and Dangerous Minds (1995). Some gags work, some don't. This has successful teacher Richard Clark (Jon Lovitz) who works for the successful and prestigious Wellington Academy being given an offer to work for Marion Barry High School. It seems like the chance of a life time, but Richard's father Thaddeus Clark (John Neville) isn't happy about Richard's choice. It turns out to be a school in the ghetto of South Central Los Angeles, in the slums with multi-racial pupils, mostly black, it has metal detectors at the door and violence in the corridors, but Richard soon settles in and tries to get the best out of the students there. He tries to woo fellow teacher Victoria Chapell (Tia Carrere), who see's the good in Richard and what he's trying to do for the students, but Richard is at loggerheads with Principal Evelyn Doyle (Louise Fletcher), who believes in violent dicipline. It does have some good gags, but nothing really memorable, although Lovitz does make a likeable, funny lead. But it is a premonition of things to come with the Scary Movie films and all that...

Alexis G (au) wrote: I will start out saying this film is not for everyone, there is major swearing and sexual natured content followed by crude humor that lots of people will not care for, so I highly suggest renting before buying and do not let young kids see this, it's rated R for a reason. After saying all that, the story is slow in progressing and adds humor to the suspense factor, the acting is very well done and you can tell the actors put in a huge part of themselves to the part. This film is for mature audiences and definetly delivers, the paranormal aspect comes into play combined with failed father/son relationship status and the fears of having to move to your old, mysterious town to once again live with your overbearing parents.I loved this movie and can't wait for it to come out on DVD :) lastly, if you can stand very dirty preferences, swearing and have a fondness for crude humor then this movie is a must see.
