Unlimited funds have allowed Diana to live it up on the outskirts of Miami, where the queen of retail buys whatever strikes her fancy. There's only one glitch: The ID she's using to finance these sprees reads "Sandy Bigelow Patterson".... and it belongs to an accounts rep who lives halfway across the U.S. . Tim S (br) wrote: For a film with such a ridiculous concept as Zombie Bin Laden and His Undead Insurgents, Osombie plays everything out with a pretty straight face. I give them credit for that even for a low budget zombie film. But it still doesn't find anyway to stand out from the veritable cornucopia of low-budget zombie flicks out there on DVD.As a band of soldiers wander the deserts of Afghanistan fighting off waves of flesh hungry ghouls for, some reason, they come across a young woman who is looking for her brother. Her brother, a conspiracy theorist, is looking for zombie Bin Laden and right there is where the story just stops. Cue an hour and a half of walking, shooting zombies and then more walking before they reach their objective.Of course there's character banter in-between all this walking, however, though interactions between the characters is the film's strongest suit. There's actual drama between them which makes the film a little more watchable than just having characters bicker for no reason what-so-ever aside from being caricatures taken from other zombie films. But aside from that there are just too many ridiculous moments to give this film high praise, other than Zombie Bin Laden wants to turn the western infidels into his army of the living dead.

Mitch M (es) wrote: A compelling film, although the more I read about it, the more I feel like I was fed a director-concocted narrative rather than a birds-eye observation (e.g. the film implies that a BJM tour collapsed and the band broke up after Anton was arrested for drug possession in Georgia when - as far as I can tell from other sources - it was in fact the director herself who was arrested). Timoner has said the film is about the different "choices" that the two bands (The Dandy Warhols and the Brian Jonestown Massacre) make in pursuing their art/careers, but there's little sense of "choice" - Newcombe is frankly bizarre and self-destructive (and therefore makes the film), but the Warhols are signed to a major label and simply continue along that path as far as it takes them. There's little sense of real conflict on that side.

Jamey D (ag) wrote: I will be blunt; this is one of the most entertaining action movies I've seen. In terms of trying to get an "anti-fascism/war is bad" message across, THAT got lost in a film that is very chaotic in nature. I'm watching this now and I STILL can't get that message. This is really not the kind of movie that you try to get a "war is bad" message through, since it's like driving through the Antarctic in a limo. It doesn't make sense to try that. Plus Ed Neumeier (who actually plays the guy who was sentenced to death by the trio of judges partway through the film) wrote the "anti-fascism" message to be way too subtle. It really does come off the exact opposite of what he'd wanted.Still, I have a good time. The costuming and designs are all top-notch, and actually, the CGI was cutting-edge for 1997. The design is top of the line, and it's a lot of fun. That's what movies are for.
