Mike M (de) wrote: Passable to fans of Dracula or Italian cinema (who can appreciate the good from the bad and ugly) Argento's Dracula suffers from laughably-weak CG work and shoddy acting. Still, at its blood-thirsty heart - there are enjoyable moments and elements, including a strong titular character (and performance); a variety of animal-cum-vampire transformations; surreal, dreamlike settings and score; Rutger Hauer as Van Helsing - and - plenty of screen time for a beautiful, busty blonde vampiress.

Rainer G (au) wrote: Ten Canoes is one of the most unique films I have every seen. Its opening imagery is so raw and unaffected I was not expecting the comedic fantasia that Ten Canoes is. Ten Canoes is a film firmly based in the tradition of aboriginal oral storytelling. Set a millennia ago in Australia, long before the arrival of white guys. It is about a time when oral stories were the predominate form of teaching, and knowledge was passed on by elders whose life experience was the basis of all fact. What makes Ten Canoes so different is that it essentially takes familiar systems of fantasy film storytelling, and firmly roots them in reality. But what a foreign reality! In Ten Canoes an elder tribesman tells a story to a younger man over the course of a multi-day hunting trip. The film alternates between the Elder and young man in beautiful black and white, and the color rendering of the story told. The fable he weaves is a fantasy epic with a moral punchline, told with a matter-of-fact directness. It is a classic tale of love, deceit, mystery, humor, magic, and death, but in its context, it becomes something entirely new. I love films about stories, because stories are the driving force behind humanity and knowledge, as Ten Canoes shows us. All culture is firmly rooted in the stories it tells, and Ten Canoes does the remarkable by immersing us in a world of new stories with ancient, yet still fresh, ideas. We have not changed much, at heart, and the story the Elder tells in Ten Canoes is not much different than The Wizard of Oz, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, or Avatar, and equally if not more beautiful. The cinematography alone makes Ten Canoes worth-it. I have never seen such a gorgeous capturing of Australia's countryside. I cannot say more, because the off-beat, subtly funny tone, and non-performances, must be experienced to be understood. But it is a masterpiece, that much can be said.

Austin F (gb) wrote: 88% It may not bring anything entirely new to the action genre, but is an incredibly fun picture thanks to the Rock's perfect comedic timing, and is comprised of an acceptional cast, including terrific chemistry between its two leads.

Mayonnaise is A (nl) wrote: The best movie I have seen in my entire life. Everything in this movie was absolute perfection. Benjamin (last name uncertain) loved this movie as well. Judging by its 100% rating on un-rotten tomatoes I think that everyone who watches this movie will love it. I listen to the soundtrack every day. 10/10 would watch again.

Leon B (de) wrote: Review:I really didn't enjoy this movie! It's one of those comedic Jackie Chan movies, that really wasn't that funny and the acting was also a bit dodgy. It also seemed more like a Rom-Com than your usual action packed film, that we have grown to enjoy from Chan so it really has to go down as a bad day at the office for the action superstar.. Anyway, this film sees Jackie Chan playing a high flying lawyer who is hired to help a chemical plant owner to stop a woman from suing them for polluting the area. With the help of his close friends Luke Wong (Sammo Hung) and Timothy Tung (Biao Yuen), he uses some undercover tactics to build a case against the adamant woman but he ends up falling for her cousin and with much persuasion, Sammo Hung falls for the woman that they are building a case against. From here it turns into a soppy love story but when Chan and his team finally find out what the people at the chemical plant are really getting up to, they take matters into there own hands which puts all of there life's in danger. I lost interest in this movie right from the beginning because of the silly jokes, annoying music and bad script. Some of the action scenes wasn't that bad but the two love stories got on my nerves. It seems like a lot of the movies that Jackie Chan starred in with Sammo Hung and Biao Yuen were badly made comedies so I'll know what to expect when I see them in the cast. On the plus side, Chans acting wasn't too bad and the chemistry between the 3 action stars was OK but I wasn't impressed with the film. Disappointing!Round-Up:This is another movie directed by Sammo Hung which I didn't enjoy. He still pulled off some good moves, even though he's a bit on the heavy side but I still am struggling to understand there sense of humour. I just hope that this Jackie Chan season will pick up soon, because the movies that I have watched in the latter part of his career, have been pretty awful.I recommend this movie to people who are into their action/comedy/romance/martial arts movies starring Jackie Chan, Biao Yuen and Sammo Kam-Bo Hung. 2/10

Miedy B (fr) wrote: It's hard not to compare this to The Exorcist, especially in regard the casting of the young girl who had this 'Linda Blair' type. Unfortunately she didn't possess the same level of talent, though she had her moments sometimes. The second Anthony Hopkins started speaking, the movie improved so much.
