Elliot B (es) wrote: For an Indie film not bad. Moderate pace with very little character growth however I read it was filmed in 15 days. Although it dealt with grief, I suspect the main character used her aunt's sickness as justification to escape from her life for a while. See it.

Lo mejor que se ha hecho en Puerto Rico en mucho tiempo -- desde Dios los cra de Jacobo Morales (1979).

The upstairs downstairs drama that is familiar to many is enough to make a movie in itself, with the great cast and writing. The story actually gets multiple layers going before bringing in even more fun the second half. All around a great period representation of the English upper class and their household behaviors.

Del H (us) wrote: I think that it can be a bit self-indulgent in its almost obsessive homage to Burroughs and the film lacks the edgy satire that made the novel so excellent, but Cronenberg does manage to give us a barbed portrait of the writer's mind, in all of its paradox. The writer must create, but the very act of creation is what brings him to the most painful parts of his person. I think Cronenberg captures this dystopia of the psyche with precision and uses his usual gooey, biomorphic imagery to drive this point home. It's a self-imposed nightmare that Cronenberg explores here, which is honestly the most common but least filmed type of horror.
