Calum R (kr) wrote: Disney are primarily known for their animated films that are executed perfectly with your typical stories of love, friendship and redemption - however when the studio approached live-action films, whilst the majority of them (like Mary Poppins) did fantastically well, they weren't on par with the likes of their animated tales, that was until 'Pirates of the Caribbean' got released. Possibly one my favourite films of recent years, 'Pirates' is't your typical Disney kids movie, it mixes fantastic action scenes, rather terrifying horror and brilliantly-executed humour. The highlight of the film, well of the series in general, is Johnny Depp's Oscar-nominated performance as Captain Jack Sparrow, one of the finest film protagonists ever conceived. Accompanying the film is the epic scale cinematography and a completely heart-pounding and stunning film score from Klaus Badelt, one that Hans Zimmer built upon perfectly in the sequels to follow.

Ruth K (ru) wrote: The "Road To" series are so random and that what makes them so hilarious and so special! Bob Hope and Bing Crosby are great as always and I love inside jokes they play on each other! If you don't take this movie seriously, I'm sure you'll be fighting for breath!

Reno V (au) wrote: "DON'T PLAY WITH STRANGERS" - 'Joy Ride' is a 2001 horror road movie written by J.J. Abrams (Star Trek, Super 8) and Clay Tarver, and directed by John Dahl (You Kill Me). Road Trip turns slasher is probably the best way to describe this movie. I do like the storyline and the way the tension makes you sit on the edge of your seat, and maybe good to say one that isn't all about gore. Credits go to the cast: Steve Zahn (A Perfect Getaway, Dallas Buyers Club), Paul Walker (Fast and Furious franchise, Brick Mansions) and Leelee Sobieski (Eyes Wide Shut, Deep Impact) and the voice of Ted Levine (Silence of the Lambs, the Hills Have Eyes). With the impressive music by Marco Beltrami. Make sure to watch the special edition, as it also shows multiple alternate endings. Two sequels of 'Joy Ride' followed quickly. Ready to take on a joke? When student Lewis Thomas (Walker) plans to make a road trip to pick up his childhood friend Venna (Sobieski), he gets a phone call from his mother who tells him that his estranged and troublesome brother Fuller (Zahne) is in jail. Making a little detour, Lewis decides to get his brother. Fuller insist on joining him, and so the two brothers go on a road trip. Along the way they use their CB radio to joke around with lonesome truckers. When one trucker, who calls himself Rusty Nail (Levin), is interested to me up with Candy Can, who is in fact Lewis pretending to be a woman, Fuller is happy to arrange the date with a rude man who is staying at their motel. But what started out as a joke, soon turns into a nightmare...
