Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go out into the woods and search for an alien artifact so I can get the badass powers displayed in this film. I commend Josh Trank for doing something unique and taking a chance with this film. All in all, on it's five year anniversary of release, I view Chronicle as a genre film that has aged well like Diane Lane or Hellen Mirren. I'm not saying at all that a movie has to be full of fairies and ponies for me to give it strong marks here, but when the main character is getting abused mentally and physically by his father in a third of his scenes, it's not exactly something I get jacked up to throw in the Blu Ray player. He created strong relationships between the audience and his characters, but because or how morose everything in this movie is I'm unable to revisit it very often. REWATCHABILITY - Don't get me wrong, what Trank was able to pull off here needs to be commended. The finale/climax is earned, and honestly I'm not sure how Trank was able to pull off what he did with what I'm assuming is not a tentpole budget. We are introduced to these characters and quickly shown their motivations and set off on their arcs. The creative ways that Landis and Trank find to involve the camera in everyday situations is incredibly clever and allows you to fully immerse yourself in the story. STORY/PLOT - With such a short runtime, things come at you fast. It's clear that Trank understands the dynamic that adolescents have with one another, and Max Landis knows how to write for them as well. Jordan (before we all realized that this dude an absolute savage when it comes to his talent) steals every scene he is in, and his chemistry with Dane Dehaan and Alex Russell reminded me of the kids at my high school when they weren't shoving me into a locker. Michael B. ACTING/CAST - Effing perfect. I'll break this movie down into three parts. and also not choked Miles Teller. . . If only he could've done the same with his Fantastic Four movie. For me, Josh Trank perfectly executed not only the cinematography, but the intimacy that it evokes with regards to the characters in Chronicle. Most of us can't even watch our old home movies without vomiting from dizziness, let alone sit through an hour and a half long movie with the same visual style. The found footage movie is very polarizing to say the least

The celtic vistas are beautiful, and there are a handful of great actors involved delivering some great bits including an ode to the classic Sigorney Weaver line "Get away from her you bitch!"Accents are a little 'tick' so you may have to turn on the subtitles to get the colourful feckin' jokes. The title & marketing makes it look cheap and stupid, however don't let the crappy poster fool you, this is an enjoyable watch. Like Slither before it, this fun creature invasion is a horror-comedy of the best kind. But does this small Irish town have enough booze to stop the tentacled leviathan? This is a wonderfully cheeky movie that knows what it is and plays up the campiness of the concept with great characters. Soon the Garda's discover The bloodsucking sea creatures are allergic to alcohol and the villagers happily gets piss drunk. A small Island village in Ireland is under attack as sea monsters begin picking off local fisherman one by one

Hines' script is performed admirably by the amateur cast, while Jackson's filmmaking virtuosity ensures that this ambitious film of two distinct portions remains as powerful now as it has ever been. Terrifying and harrowing BBC drama/documentary

Just sayin'. I'll still be waiting for my juvenile indulgence of seeing hecklers get the verbal backlash, though. Definitely his best work, and one of the most thoughtful documentaries I've seen in the past few years. Not Jamie Kennedy's best comedic piece, as it's not comedy. It does not have the polished look of today's documentaries, but it has qualities that most polished documentaries fail to possess: an abashed frankness, proper research, and rebuttal from the argument's detractors. Moreover it was not an all out rail against critics, more of a critique of criticism. This documentary was more candid than a serious documentary maybe should be, but it was insightful and engaging nonetheless. What I saw was a movie masquerading as a comedian's backlash against critics, that was actually about the much deeper psychological issues that have been exacerbated by the barrierless, anonymous internet. I was expecting a funny movie with clips of comedians tearing into hecklers. This may be one of the most important movies in the age of anonymity
