Chris Z (gb) wrote: This is a wonderful little film about touch. It's a moment in a 'coming-of-age' story, but with the focus leaning more towards the 'coming-of-old-age' fears of a father. A simple, occasionally clumsy, but ultimately great little film the way the French make these kinds of movies, with not much going on, but stuffed with the enormous space to find our way into the lives of these people as they think and love and worry. The layers here are unspoken, appear simple, but given all that space they seem to go on forever.

Katy P (de) wrote: I'm extremely ashamed to admit that I've seen this film, but I figure if I can stop someone (who would obviously have to have some sort of mental sickness) from renting this movie, then it would be worth the embarassment. There's really no way to give it 0 stars, so the half a star is really 0. Go floss for an hour and half or stare at the wall. Either way your time will have been better spent than if you watch this movie.

Matt B (nl) wrote: It's a little hard to believe that a 13 year old in a 30 year old's body could become so successful as a magazine editor throughout the film, but you just have to let it go. 13 Going on 30 is a fantasy, after all, and Jennifer Garner puts a smile on your face in every scene. She's fabulous.

Eric J (de) wrote: The film was really rather trite, with an attempt to be gritty by the use of numerous cliches. Probably was gritty at the time it was released but society has moved the bar. Watchable but not memorable.

Christopher S (ag) wrote: Biopic directed by Elia Kazan, with an original screenplay by John Steinbeck, is unfortunately underwhelming. It has a number of strong moments, but as a whole is a rather turgid and heavy-handed melodrama, with uneven performances from its much lauded cast. Not a bad film, really, but a disappointment considering the talent involved. Great score by Alex North.
monsieur r (it) wrote: "Synopsis: Jim Peters and Turkey Jackson, two bumbling buffoons, are shipwrecked on an island off the coast of North Africa. When the beautiful Princess Shalimar comes to their rescue, Jim and Turkey think they've died and gone to heaven. But once her brawny, jealous husband finds out what these clowns have been up to, they're going to wish they had never left their island." --- RT Ok, there's the "plot" of sorts, but it doesn't matter, this is one of the Road movies. Saddle up for a 1942 humor picture. Its all about Bing and Hope, one liners to the finish and grateful we should be to have it captured on film for posterity. An utterly slap happy adventure, Bing and Hope embark on a very popular road journey. Youthful Anthony Quinn has a major role in this as well. Nominated for two Academy Awards including best original screenplay, this is trip down memory lane, as are all the road shows. While not for everyone, especially those that can't relate to the humor of years past, this one should be embraced by students of cinema history.
