It struggles to hold your attention & you will pretty much wander off wondering why you've bothered & the time you've invested gone to waste.

Aidan B (ca) wrote: An excellent little movie about faith. I loved how excited about God they got, when he was praying outside, and later when they started singing and dancing. It's also good to compare to A Serious Man, whereas here they keep praising Him no matter what, in A Serious Man they never praise Him, and just become more and more depressed. Especially powerful and illustrated with the movies's respective endings.

monsieur r (kr) wrote: The movie is about the life of the person who played Hogan on Hogan's Heroes, a tv show about prisoners of war in WWII in Germany. It is, for the most part, a true story. Truth is indeed stranger than fiction, as this film shows. This movie starts out with a wholesome pre- Hogan's Hero, before he made it big, a great family and who is so straight he sees his friend, a priest to help him. A true story of a person getting way over their head in Hollywood and letting their inhibitions get the better of them. I always heard Hogan was a piece of work in real life, but this one shows it all. I have to believe he was killed by his "friend", someone he tried to escape from but either wouldn't or couldn't. His "friend", a techo freak from the 60's, must have been Satan himself... he was always tempting Hogan with evil. They tried to prosecute the fellow twice, but the "friend" in reality got away with murder after all. The movie tries to cast people in the roles of the TV show, Hogan's Heros, and succeeds mainly with Col. Klink, but with nobody else. Richard Dawson, an actor in the TV show, Hogans Heroes, is portrayed as a womanizer, something I wonder if he permitted if he saw the script, but he must have been ok with it because he displayed that "talent" on his quiz show, always kissing the gal contestants. I kind of recommend this for the suspense of it all, but it is kinky in places and it is not credible that such a home type guy would be such a sleeze bag. See it at your own risk. It was worth my time.

Scott as Jefferson Cody who just happens to successfully trade some goods with the Comanche Indians for a young white lady who was obviously been kidnapped. They then stop by to an almost isolated area called the "Comanche Station" where they're met with three other rustlers headed by an old foe Ben Lane played by Claude Akins. It is soon revealed that their happens to be a very generous reward for her return whether she's alive or dead. Conflicts soon arise. As with all Scott/ Boetticher western collaborations, they're some of the best of the genre since they consist a specific amount of authenticity and suspense since they're riding with one another suspected from viewers that something is going to happen for it's just a matter of when. This is not a shoot 'em up western that is usually expected to John Wayne movies since it's more realistic than that for the questions we have while watching this would eventually be reveled as the film progresses up until the very end. 3 out of 4 stars
