India Untouched: Stories of a People Apart
This documentary is the most comprehensive look at the "untouchables" in India. Motivated by ancient religious edicts, no amount of governmental encouragement has been able to stem the tragic custom that separates human beings according to their birth. Those considered untouchable suffer more than isolation, they are forced to fulfill menial tasks in their communities, drink from separate containers, remove their shoes on the street as a sign of respect and perform or exhibit many other outward signs of their perceived inferiority. While the media projects a positive image of a democratic India, filmmaker Stalin K spends four years traveling the country to expose the continued oppression of the Dalits, "the broken people," in a wide variety of communities, including Sikhs, Christians and Muslims.

I kinda enjoyed the movie when it showed Krause's character for what he really was: a fucking psychopath. The "terrorist" in question is also surprisingly likeable in these scenes, and while this role reversal doesn't necessarily make the film good, it is interesting. The climax is something of a disaster, and then the ending tries to justify everything he did. Fuck this movie.

This is a great Australian film, I would say comedy but it is also a drama. It is a story of a wonderful father-son relationship, one which is honest and supportive. It touches on genes interestingly but is ultimately about love, the true family value.
(fr) wrote: This is a nice simmering love war script but it is the backdrop of undercinemised wars that make it interesting and appealing.

(it) wrote: Fairly pedestrian B movie noir. The story tolls along and the characters are interesting enough. But the sum of the parts is just a bit Meh
