The movie is a bit slow and confusing but Jeremy Irons performance and Patricia Kass' singing keeps you watching it. I don't know why but it somehow reminded me of 'The English Patient'. It's probably because of the scenary and the romantic theme than anything else.

(ag) wrote: The type of movie that's shot so gorgeously it carries the entire film. Director James Bidgood disowned this film after it was taken from him (after 7 years of work) and edited without his input, but it's a shame considering that what makes this film amazing his entirely his work. His lighting, framing, casting, sets and overall vision are so entrancing, beautiful, and even humorous at times that you forget there's no dialogue (and a fairly nonexistent plot).I will say, at its worst it's just overly blunt and veers on a sort of stripper-appeal that doesn't really vibe with the rest of the film (I'm thinking rather specifically about the naked man wearing only pearl necklaces waving his dick around for five minutes while a hand strokes a beaded, twisted phallus). But I'll go ahead and blame the editing for that, because visually it's still striking. It's such a shame Bidgood had such a hard time with this movie, I would absolutely have loved to have seen more from him.
