Danielle C (us) wrote: Not like all the other films on exorcism or ghosts. It's one you can really believe (helps with it being based on a true story I suppose) but it really grabs your attention. It made me jump off the sofa a few times too. One of the best supernatural films I've ever seen.

Eric J (us) wrote: I saw this picture in the theater when I was in high school with my choir friends. It was a convoluted and dull character study.

jeroen v (nl) wrote: It's funny to see now, the first movie that critics took seriously from Eastwood. It's not half as good as Unforgiven and feels a bit dated and slightly clumsy in hindsight.

Charles P (us) wrote: Belle de Jour is an intelligent, hugely entertaining picture not about sex, but about fantasies - and how deep they can go, and how far they can take us.

Nate A (it) wrote: For what it is, not bad at all. A 50s B-movie about the dangers of nuclear annihilation, 'Day' is an interesting mix of typical Hollywood melodrama with hideous creature feature. The acting: terrible, the dialogue: terrible, the film-making: pretty much terrible. But it doesn't matter because 'Day' manages to amuse and horrify despite itself. The musings about a poisoned planet and the annihilation of the human race strike home. These films are laudatory for the attention they call to the dangers of technological rationality, although I could do without the religious subtext. "The Day The Earth Stood Still" is much better, but I enjoyed this film.

Daryl K (gb) wrote: Until its final moments, I was liking a lot of this prototypical WIP (Women in Prison) slash-gangster picture. Early Barbara Stanwyck performances can be a bit stiff, like her gun-moll is here, but always display a natural charm. The Hollywood ending undercuts this film being anything particularly memorable, however -- wouldn't have pulled that sort of thing on Cagney... probably not Bette Davis, either.

Shane S (nl) wrote: Another new classic! Great film! Good story. A great killer! Mean and scary.
