Nathan M (fr) wrote: The script is so unoriginal that I was calling out every plot turn five minutes before it happened, and was telling the punch lines to most of the jokes in time with the characters. Speaking of the characters, all of them are pretty paper thin, and don't hold up well over the length of the film. I just couldn't have been less interested.

Caesar M (gb) wrote: Poor Gamera, he just doesn't seem to catch a break just when he was making progress with Gamera Vs. Gayos his later movie are aimed at children. With his being the second Gamera aimed at children like the previous entry Gamera Vs. Viras (or Destroy All Planets) it offers more the same. Gamera Vs. Guiron (or Attack of the Monsters) is about two boys, who stumble upon a flying saucer. The boys both step in without hesitating, and are whisked away to a planet in Earth's orbit but on the exact opposite side of the Sun with Gamera being the only one who save from the deadly inhabitants. Once again children are our main characters and they're even more annoying then before. Storytelling hasn't changed much as it feels too similar to the previous entry with the fact both involve annoying kids as the main characters, stock footage being used (some in black white despite the movie being in color), the adults aren't smart, and unfortunately in this one we get more of Guiron than we do Gamera. While on the topic of storytelling, it's too campy and silly for my taste and trying make a campy giant turtle monster movie doesn't work for this series. What's unfortunate is that there isn't much monster brawling and the final fight is disappointing. The story has bad dialogue, human characters that still haven't improved after four movies, and finally a monster movie aimed at kids doesn't equal entertainment for adults. Now time for the monsters since the human characters aren't worth talking much. We got Guiron who has a blade in his head and could apparently throw throwing-stars without using any hands, weird. What's weirder is that Guiron is consider a watch dog by the two aliens on that planet, lucky, I wish I had a watch dog like Guiron. We also got Gayos making a very short appearance as he looses laughably fast to Guiron who barely moved with one hit. Then finally the only reason the series survived, Gamera, who once again gives one over-the-top moment (as he does in every movie) when he does gymnastic during a monster battle. Picture it, a giant turtle doing gymnastic is something you simply can't take serious. Even though the monsters aren't in for much of the movie they make it enjoyable, to bad they didn't get a bigger portion of the movie. Gamera Vs. Gurion (or Attack of the Monsters) suffers similar issues that plague the series with boring human characters and not so interesting story. With Gamera saving the planet once again from another monster, will our favorite gaint fire breathing pocket power flying turtle ever a good movie, maybe.

Whip-smart dialogue and commanding performances by McKern and the late Edward Judd, who passed away last year. (I've seen this four of five times but today was the first time with the fiery- tinted opening and closing sequences.)

Samuel R (us) wrote: I truly appreciated this movie, all tough I find some scenes to be difficult to believe, like the part where they where at the bar and met two ladies who would just hung around all night with a 16 year old and his uncle. But still, it's a movie I guess anything can happen. I liked the fact that they let the viewer set their own moral for the story,
