(gb) wrote: An illegal Mexican worker struggles to survive and raise his teenage son in the shadows of Los Angeles. A raw, emotional roller-coaster ride that spotlights U.S. naturalization the same way that "Waiting for Superman" educated & provoked discussion on U.S. public schools. A superb cast with powerful performances--especially from Oscar-nominated Demian Bichir as the father--takes viewers on a very heartfelt journey. Although illegal immigration is always at the forefront, this film is more about a father's attempt to live the American Dream and exemplify his hard work ethic to his son. The movie shows that great parents, regardless of ethnicity or race, try to give their kids a better life; and sometimes that can take its toll. Grade: A-

It has the tension, devotion to the characters and a terrific performance from Don Cheadle. It feels more or less like Schindler's list and the film doesn't even have a single bad moment.

(br) wrote: Mr.Deeds is on the bottom end of my Adam Sandler list not ever really liking it. The movies plot is very boring and very non original. There is nothing in this film that is slightly entertaining to where it can almost be unwatchable. The cast brings no good energy and are unbelievable characters. The jokes are just dumb, poorly written, and very dull acting. Adam Sandler cant bring any charm to this movie.

(ca) wrote: Decent concept ( as far as horror sequels go) is ultimately done in by the cheapest of special effects. A character, attacked by the corn monster, is clearly a dressed up Barbie doll during the big climax. I'm not kidding.

(br) wrote: Brigitte Bardot is a crazy bitch who stops loving her husband because he's not jealous enough (?). The husband takes it more calmly than you'd think. Nerve-wrecking, endless relationship drama. Liked the landscapes, the gods and the way of bringing the story to a mythical level.
