Robert T (ru) wrote: Really fun movie about Hildegard Knef, big German star in the postwar era. At the end of the War, while still a teenager, she was the mistress of a major German filmmaker. She disguised herself as a man when the Russians marched into Berlin. After the war, made her debut as the star of "Murderers are Among Us," the first big postwar German film. In the 50s, she's provoked a huge scandal by appearing nude in "The Story of a Sinner." At a news conference, she rebuked the press, saying, "just a few years ago, the press sat quietly as 6 million Jews were murdered...now you're provoking a revolution because of a couple of breasts." She left Germany, was successful in the US, particularly on Broadway. When she returned to Germany she emerged primarily as a singer. Her best song is "Fuer mich soll es rote Rosen regnen ..." [Red roses will rain down for me]. The movie is a great companion piece to Fassbinder's "Marriage of Maria Braun"--strong Faustian female character climbs her way to the top during the economic miracle.

Lee A (es) wrote: Based on a true story, we can see a true struggle for freedom in the past. Very stunning. I'm highly recommmeding this.

Ben R (kr) wrote: I really loved this movie even though it felt very chick flicky at times. The story itself is probably one of the most unique and chaotic I've ever seen and somehow it works. Ned Played by Oscar winning Jeremy Renner is a neo nazi who isn't really racist but feels like he has a sense of family with his brotherhood. Coming from a broken home Ned's distorted view of family leads him to be involved in a hate crime where a black man was killed by two other guys while Ned was there. Instead of going to jail he gets put into a mental hospital where he meets Rachael, a gorgeously insane black woman who thinks she is hitler. Despite Ned's Nazi views he starts to really fall for Rachael's good looks and her smart ass personality, her hitler routine is just that...a routine. Rachael is a woman who just couldn't handle the pressures of life so she came up with a fake problem just to get put away where she tries to figure out what to do. One thing leads to another and they end up escaping together and thats when the real drama happens. This is just one amazing movie that got buried in with the rest of the direct to video low budget romantic dramas, and its shame. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes weird, offbeat, romantic, drama's with some dark comedy thrown in.

While on the train, some nosey passengers peak into the box and unleash the monster. The passengers discover the monster has the ability to suck their memories out and brutally murder them. Can anyone stop the beast loose on the speeding train?"There is evil on this train. Even the dog knows it."Eugenio Martin, director of Hypnosis, Requiem for a Gringo, Pancho Villa, Bad Man's River, It Happened at Nightmare Inn, The Girl from the Red Cabaret, and Let's Leave the War in Peace, delivers Horror Express. The storyline for this picture is actually very interesting and I was pleasantly surprised by the special effects. The acting was also very good and the cast includes Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Telly Savalas, and Alberto de Mendoza."You think evil can be killed by bullets?"Horror Express is a movie I DVR'd this past Halloween season because it starred the marvelous Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. I can tell you the evolution of this film was very fun and well paced and I adored the monster and murder scenes. Overall, this is better than you would anticipate and definitely worth a viewing."The animal you shot was only the host."Grade: B

X T (fr) wrote: A weird film for sure. I don't even know if you can call it a western, since it's more of a dysfunctional family drama with a hunt involving a metaphorical cat. It's set in the snowy mountains like The Great Silence, and even though the color scheme is very spare the film still looks great.

Mark S (ag) wrote: This could almost be the definition of a tearjerker; a well-made melodrama about doomed love with a great turn by the ever-so-fragile Joan Fontaine. I liked the setting and really felt for the lead character.

samuel j (ca) wrote: While packed with talented actors, The Samaritan seems more like a badly written copy of Park's Oldboy. The bitter and slow moving plot brings you to a conclusion that's just too weird to be rewarding. Samuel L. Jackson gives a great and expert performance, but unfortunately it's not enough to make this film as great as it could've been.

Timothy V (au) wrote: One of the best films on Netflixs. No idea why no reviews. The cinematography alone should have won it recognition, not to mention the stellar performances, world class story line. Simply beautiful, a story of human beings, like a Raymond Carver short story. Better then Stand By Me, or most all movies these days....curious it has not been highlighted more. All I can say is it far out shines any of the film festival movies, in heart, soul and beauty. Real ART.Have never written a review on here before, but how will I find great films like this?
