Prabhat R (it) wrote: The movie is anchored solidly by Paul Rudd's performance all the way, and the unlikely sparkling chemistry between his character and Michelle Pfeiffer's. The setup is basically of attraction and blooming romance between these two characters with more than 10 years of age difference between them. This difference is a concern for Pfeiffer but not for Rudd who's blindly and childishly in love with her. Along the way, the movie touches upon topics like our need to corrupt the natural process by altering our physical self, our constantly and ridiculously failing attempts to reinvent our physical appearances and the resulting insecurities when someone throws in a spanner in that forced machinery. There were some oddly scattered dull moments here and there, but overall, it was Rudd's charming and refreshing presence that makes the flick worth watching at least once.

Henk E (au) wrote: This is an extreme subtle movie... It moves extremely slowly, but the emotions run deep. The acting is supperb (even though the dialog is a bit too arty for it's own good) and it is shot beautifully. The story revolves around a young man's dream to escape a small town called Pineapple and the two people who influance him the most... a young handsome (very handsome!) drifter who just drifted into his life and his coisin (who also happes to be his lover. A sweet little film about nothing really, but it's brilliant!
Jonathan G (es) wrote: Strong acting performances. Intelligent and dramatic script. A great study of mistakes and how honor and valor is still possible. Meg Ryan was a bit annoying outside of her standard romantic comedy. 7.75 / 10

Mary and the girls refuse to work with the local DA to bring down the crime boss; however, when Mary's little sister is taken advantage of at the same club she works at, Mary may change her mind about working with the ambitious DA. Lloyd Bacon, director of The French Line, The I Don't Care Girl, Action in the North Atlantic, Golden Girl, The Frogmen, Brother Orchid, and Invisible Stripes, delivers Marked Woman. The storyline for this picture is amazing and contains great characters and brilliant acting. The cast delivers wonderful performances and includes Humphrey Bogary, Bette Davis, Lola Lane, John Litel, Allen Jenkins, Jane Bryan, Mayo Methot, and Isabel Jewell. "I've got things wrong with me all of the doctors in the world couldn't fix." I am a fan of Mr. Bogart so I DVR'd this picture as I was flicking through the channels. Well, it was Bette Davis' performance that was gripping and made this film a must see. She was remarkable and controlled the screen and pace of the film. This is a worthwhile classic that is a must see for fans of strong female performances. "You know that the law ain't for people like us." Grade: A-
