Claire D (it) wrote: I don't normally watch war films, but I thought it was a very moving film. It 's not an all action, shoot' em up type film but instead, we see very real effects of war, both physically and mentally. It was not glossed over or glamorised , but also not made unbearable to watch, though some parts maybe are not for the squeamish. We saw good and bad in the characters and in particular I liked the way the relationship between the student leader and the convict developed, especially the scene when they are talking together for a few moments near to the end of the film. At times I felt frustrated with the behaviour of Oh-Jang Beom, wanting him to be the perfect leader straight away but his reactions are very believable as someone who is traumatised and has been forced into a role he does' t think he is right for. The film made me go and research the Korean war, and it's heartbreaking to think a country is turned against itself like this and it still continues today.

Chris W (de) wrote: Perhaps watching the final DOA film after being so impressed with DOA2 was a bad decision. DOA: Final is all kinds of absurd, this time with Takeuchi as a corrupt cop and Aikawa as a socially awkward combat cyborg. Yes Miike takes these characters to a futuristic Japan where childbirth is prohibited and Chinese immigrants fight for freedom, but it just feels like he is pushing it. It's definitely the best looking of the three, and some of the action scenes are great, but I really didn't need to see Takeuchi and Aikawa end their feud with a sonic boom that turns them into a gigantic robotic dildo. Given that it's Miike, though, I shouldn't be as surprised as I was.

Morgan S (kr) wrote: Not quite as horrible as the first ten minutes would have me believe. It actually turned out to be an okay movie. Allred fans unite. We have been without his subtle charm for a long time, since the days of Josh Kirby...Time Warrior, and now he is back in full force. The plot of the movie is incredibly predictable most of the way through, and is at times confused, but it holds up fairly well in the end. The accents of Allred and Heyborne are quite humorous and really add to the whole movie. At times it actually felt like a good comedy, which was very surprising to me.It is one of the better movies to come out from HaleStone, but has too many flaws in story and predictability to be a really great movie. I actually enjoyed watching it, however, which was a rather pleasant surprise. If you are fans of Allred or Heyborne this is a movie to see.
