A messenger bag over the shoulder and a bike lock chain around the waist. A helmet and possibly knee and elbow pads their only protection. The hazards carelessly opened car doors, unsignalled lane changes and abrupt turns and kamikaze pedestrians. All this for $80/day or about $20,000/year if you stay healthy. If it's got to get there a bike messenger can do the job faster than any other service. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has no less than four stand-ins. A real-life bike messenger adept at negotiating city traffic at speed, a bike racer, a stunt bike rider and a pro-stunt man for the dangerous accident scenes. All have physiques to match his lean compact frame. The DVD Supplements that demonstrate how the action was captured are a must-see. There are no high-octane chase scenes la Fast and Furious but the kinetic energy of an unprotected human body captured close-up on a bike travelling up to 40 mph in traffic is quite dramatic. The movie is special effects laden. The storyline is all about getting there as fast as possible. As portrayed these riders have a lifestyle but no life and therein lies the film's weakness.

Pablo G (gb) wrote: 3.4/5Mikees style is impressively implemented but at the same time tends to harm the narrative experience as it doesnt always care to make complete sense of the events that unfold. That in turn makes for one of the most peculiar viewing experiences Ive had and all the violence and creativity of the manga translate beautifully to the screen with great acting and really powerful scenes.

James C (br) wrote: When the puppets find a new master, they soon discover that he will stop at nothing to create his own masterpiece.I had a horrible feeling this wasn't going to a particularly good entry in the franchise, when I noticed that the opening titles were completely made up of clips from the previous five entries, and I wasn't far wrong. This movie completely disregards all the history that has been built, and give us a bland little horror story that just happens to have the puppets in, and they get to do something occasionally, and the majority of the movie is more like a poor Frankenstein impersonation. The basic story ideas start off well enough, but with the gaping continuity errors and wooden acting soon becomes a bit of a mish-mash and the cliff-hanger ending is just very, very bad. A majority of the special effects are OK, but the puppetry is average to say the least. The gore is very limited, and the same ideas are used each time. All in all, this is a below average entry in the series, and I am only giving this score as I have a soft spot for the franchise.

AC is an interesting place that I went to in the early 60's with my parents sometimes, before the casinos. Gambling didn't save the town and it is opulent pleasure palaces surrounded by brutal crack slums now. Kind of like Vegas is turning into.
