But Greg Kinnear and Kelly Reilly as the preacher and wife who are the parents of young Colton both are sincere without being cloying in their performances in Heaven Is For Real.Just the title alone is an arguing point. I don't think there's an unbeliever out there who wouldn't like for heaven to be real. But I think that depending on your belief system your first concern will inevitably be what are the qualifications, what is the admission policy? That book that Kinnear preaches from has some rather extraordinary prohibitions that disqualify a lot of people almost from the beginning. For me I can think of a few things off the bat that would disqualify me. There's some things I hope to be forgiven for and some things that I'll not apologize for.I can't think of any religion that does not say that children are indeed the innocent. Young Connor Corum who plays young Colton. His guileless performance is quite extraordinary. Heaven Is For Real is a nicely put together for which arguments about the content is pointless.

Thomas P (fr) wrote: Loved that this picked up after the first film, and went into a Wildly different direction, even playing off many gags and jokes from the first one.Great characters and stunning situations - the plane crash is an ultimate fav, with gags and hilarious moments even as the plane is going down.Amazing fun, and even as an adult who now winces at the childishness of cartoons from my younger years, this movie is well worth repeating for the subtle and truly brilliant caliber of humor amid the heartfelt characters and their struggles. Even touching on family disappointments and reconnecting within that family after being let down. Great stuff for kids, and still hilarious for adults too.Great cinematography, story, characterizations, and those Penguins are astounding with their rapid-fire one liners. I fell in love with the tv cartoon Penguins of Madagascar, and even after bingeing on that, I still came back to this randomly, and laughed all over again. The dvd extras are fun here - the behind the scene animators trip to Africa and their subsequent prepping for the movie is heart warming. The games were dumb tho - I'll admit it, I tried them - kinda blah. But a worthy movie, for laughs and camaraderie.4.5 lion shimmy-roars out of 5

And it made me to hate circus!
Jim H (nl) wrote: A piano teacher and a prodigy's mother vie for the pupil's devotion. In the canon of teacher films, this provides a new category, the pedagogy of self-abnegation. Madame Sausatzka has an unfortunate string of pupils who learn from her then leave her. During their instruction she uses the basic tough love methods that we've come to expect from films of this ilk, and like To Sir with Love, which is the ultimate tough-love educator film, she forms an emotional bond with her students. But when she's left, she feels emptier, like a jilted lover. The film doesn't condemn her teaching methods; in fact it celebrates them because she emerges as an educator-hero, one who has sacrificed for the greater good. I don't like the message, but I think it's interesting.Shirley MacLaine gives a very good performance, an abrasive attitude mixed with an inner pain. Navin Chowdhry is also very good, giving one of the better performance I've seen from a child actor. The film's plot unfolds slowly, and it isn't until late in the second act that its pedagogical philosophy becomes clear. I also had no idea what was going on with the house in which Sousatzka was entrenched; I got that it was condemned or something, but the specifics of the problem and its solution failed to be a compelling plotline. Also, the subplot between Manek and Jenny was poorly set up.Overall, I didn't like a lot about how the film was structured, but its basic idea is quite interesting.

Tedrico L (br) wrote: Jean Claude Van Damme still gives us top notch action films, as evidenced by this truly remarkable tale of 2 hit men gunning for the same mark all while trying to not break their codes and rules of the assasination game. JCVD is still very much so an action hero so watch this film and be prepared to be subjected to an unusually high body count rate during shootout scenes.
