Buggy B (nl) wrote: I liked this movie and was kinda surprised by all the bad reviews. I think what I liked the most was that this was a different sort of story than I'd seen before, at least in the first 40 minutes. Sam Worthington plays Nick Cassidy a cop turned fugitive threatening to jump from a Manhattan hotel rooftop. As an NYPD psychologist works to talk him down she learns that he may have a hidden motive for taking his own life as the biggest diamond heist ever committed is in motion and things aren't what they seem.I'm one of those people who enjoys a movie where you have to figure shit out and initially this is a huge guessing game as you have no clear idea what is going on or why 'Nick' is doing what he's doing. His story is slowly revealed and unfortunately this gets very clichd the further along we go, including a super happy ending that was a bit much. Jamie Bell plays his brother and (as per) is excellent, getting the N.Y accent perfect which I can"t say for Worthington who struggled with his. A fun original thrill ride with great secondary characters including Ed Harris. 9/15/14

Dave F (de) wrote: Poorly written, disjointed and hard to follow. Instead of building relationships and developing reasons for character interactions, the movie sort of just happens. Bullock and Connick put on weak performances at best.
John A (fr) wrote: Messenger of Death is an underrated Charles Bronson flick, that isn't as bad as it's made out to be. Although this isn't exactly one of his best works, but it has everything you'd expect from a Bronson action thriller, it's not perfect but has a number of good sequences that makes viewing this film worthwhile. The film boasts a decent plot and script with Bronson delivers a great performance. Director J. Lee Thompson (Cape Fear), directs with a certain flair as well as an intensity suited for Bronson Movies. Although it has potential to be so much better than it is, Messenger of Death is an action thriller, that has an intensity which can only be delivered by Bronson. An enjoyable flick, that's worth a look.

Stanley C (ru) wrote: A very strong satire on the genre of superhero movies that carefully criticizes the overuse of hero vs. villain plots being too simple in most movies, also has several surprises that are important for the audience to enjoy the movie as if everything wasn't secret, the audience would lose their attention. However, this movie is too underrated and deserves to be honored for the film's message.
