(jp) wrote: A pretty well realised movie on this dark ages that were the Crusades & all the absurdities they engaged. Even if sometimes Bloom seems little expressive, the rest of the cast is well on place (special mention to Norton & Green amazing as always & Massoud greatly interpreting Saladin), the images are nice and even if it doesn't feel as epic as a LOTRO 3 or Gladiator, its message of peace & tolerance makes it a cool movie to watch (but not the best nor the most must-see of R.Scott).
(ca) wrote: This movie has so much potential but seems to be held back by it's budget and it's direction. There are often times where this movie is funny and could be down right hilarious but it's never taken to that next level. Another issue with this film is that it's supposed to be a pot head film. Besides one or two scenes there really is no pot smoking in it at all. However with those issues aside. If you want to kill some time on a Sunday afternoon. This movie will do the trick. Just don't expect more than a couple laughs and a great soundtrack

(au) wrote: An absolutely fantastic film. It's hilarious but so touching at the same time. The music is phenomenal, the cast is spot on, and the plot is interesting. This is one movie that I want to share with everyone I talk to.
(ca) wrote: As much as I love film noir, it's too hard to get invested in the silliness of the plot of this film. Fritz Lang is usually capable of better work than ho-hum 50s television movies that stretch suspension of disbelief too far in the legal system of America.
(nl) wrote: Not the best structured movie I've ever seen... Felt like it was trying to make too many points at the same time. But it was still quite interesting.
(de) wrote: A whodunit played out in semi-noir style, lots of sharp constrast and deep shadows. Kind of a Hitchcock "wrong man" movie with hard-boiled tough guys. Not really a classic, but I like Victor Mature and Betty Grable, and William Gargan makes a fantastic heavy. Some of the musical cues are a little goofy, including about a billion repetitions of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".
(it) wrote: Ford blends the woes and tribulations of all families with the triumphs of the human spirit. Walter Pidgeon, with his awesome voice, is spectacular as the spiritual leader of the valley and Maureen O'Hara is winning as well. But it's really an all star cast with Donald Crisp will stealing the show. I love the way these people talk and they're so lovable you can't help but feel every inch of their tragic and inspiring journey. The glimpse into their lives is a true masterpiece and an example for all family dramas no matter what era.

(nl) wrote: Pretty good stuff. Definitely one of the better Thai horror movies. It`s a tiny bit annoying in the sense that some scenes ended being a dream in a dream in a dream and then of course the bits where it was a movie within the movie. Overall quite chilling even without the cheap jumps and shrill noises. I feel it would have been a five star movie if they had focused on the one situation instead of branching out into three other subplots just for the sake of adding more ghostly hauntings.
