Jess Franco's Perversion

Jess Franco's Perversion

The great Jess Franco is obviously going to continue to intrigue his fans and irritate the rest of the world with the films he makes until the day he dies, which hopefully is another twenty-five years away or so. In the meantime, he delivers "Jess Franco's Perversion", the DVD release title of his 2005 film, which is again based on a story by the Marquis de Sade, who has inspired many, many Franco films in the last thirty years. In "Perversion", the great Lina Romay heads a cult of sadistic lesbian prostitutes who live for the destruction of men and any woman who dares fall "victim" to a man.

Robert U (gb) wrote: A film, that appearently got a lot of praise with RT-associated critics for it's all female direction, which is appearently a rare and novel thing in horror (the accuracy of this being debatable). The film does however come with a couple of weaknesses, starting out with an interest-grabbing cryptic story about the mysterious contents of a box and a tale of misfortune at the least appropriate moment, but leads into two weaker segments, that just feel epigonic to their own predecessors and contemporaries alike.

Adrian C (kr) wrote: Oh god, just don't, don't even think about this movie. The movie is terrible beyond all means, I have seen way better direct to DVD releases, if there even is a good direct to DVD movie. Just stay far away from this movie.

Ali T (us) wrote: my favorite star wars. jar jar hurt it from being a five star, but Darth maul is the best villain ever. fun movie.

Vadim D (br) wrote: Robert Towne does a superb job of bringing the story of Prefontaine to the big screen, and the great cast, including Billy Crudup and Donald Sutherland, are a big part of that success. This film came out after Prefontaine with Jared Leto, and while it wasn't as much of a success, it was a far superior film.

Michael N (us) wrote: it really isn't good enough to be funny and it isn't bad enough to be fun to watch. it's probably the worst movie ever made. cyndi lauper is amazing in it, though. and it's sort of worth watching for the last shot.

Anthony M (au) wrote: Epicly bad to a level that must be admired.

C T (au) wrote: Great movie, but if you watch the DVD and listen to the "commentary" supposedly about 'the' movie, you will be gravely disappointed as two men talk on and on and on solely about their opinion. The continually references to Brando's "sexiness", by these two old men, became so sickening that I will not be able to view the movie again without mentally hearing their ongoing non-stop rhetoric. I have been ruined. The majic I once had, has now vanished. This one will remain on the shelf. My advice: watch the movie, fall in love with its realness, but whatever you do, DO NOT listen to the "Special Feature" commentary...it'll ruin the beauty of the film.

Anis T (ru) wrote: "The Freshman" is one of Harold LLoyd's best feature. He plays a nerdy college student who' willing to do anything to become popular on campus. But of course its no easy task, especially when the college bully humiliates him in front of the whole school. This one features one of LLoyd's best gags and an incredible finale. A great silent movie.
