Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling

In this film that closely parallels his own life story, Richard Pryor plays Jo Jo Dancer, a popular stand-up comedian who has severely burned himself in a drug incident. As he lies unconscious in a hospital, his spiritual alter ego gets up and begins a journey of his own. He revisits his life, from growing up in a brothel as a child and struggling to beat the long odds to become a top rated comedian. However, his success brings new problems as he develops a tragic pattern of substance abuse that begins to screw up his life. Daniel R (mx) wrote: A brilliant and very sarcastic Bill Murray shines as a war veteran that helps a boy that moved in next door. Moved me to tears, but that was probably because of the wine. Great, great film.

Joe A (au) wrote: While on one hand this Asylum movie is laughably bad and appears written by someone on acid or completely deranged, you can't totally hate a movie that actually gives you undead Nazis at the center of the earth...lead by Dr. Josef Mengele, a cybernetic robot with Hitler's head and a giant Nazis flying saucer armed with missles filled with a flesh eating virus, all bent on world domination. Not to mention Jake Busey thrown in for good measure. Genius or madness, you decide!

Eytan D (kr) wrote: Complex, entertaining, dramatic, mysterious. Based on David Auburn's Pulitzer-winning play, "Proof" is an entertaining drama that makes you think. It also helps that the performances are great all-around.

Greg B (us) wrote: A sweet film on a sweet man who has nothing but good intentions.A definite uplifting film that shows people in general are genuinely good inside and even people who make mistakes are good.

Nick P (it) wrote: Julia Roberts gives her most Julia Roberts performance but maybe that's not such a bad thing. She is very solid as Liz Gilbert, but considering how I did not like this character very much or had any emotional support or sympathy for her, I wasn't impressed. She wasn't a mean person but it seem like all she ever did was whine and whine. Eat Pray Love is all about Liz Gilbert trying to find her meaning in life and to escape herself. This could have been an excellent movie but you also wonder why it feels so unnecessary. It's tedious and repetitive throughout most parts and overlong. Plus, I wasn't sure where this movie was headed and while Roberts, being the chemistry queen, fails at that with Javier Bardem, who was just there. It just did not make that much sense to me.

Tim W (kr) wrote: Sure it's a cheezy kids film but it's pretty great. I enjoyed it more as a kid, with it's adventure and fun and mystery and scifi, but you wont not enjoy it as an adult too. First half is definitely a lot better. 6.5/10
