Andrew R (au) wrote: It's almost too self-referential, but the meta-narrative works, paralleling the filming of the "real Columbus" to the water crisis and the exploitation of the indigenous peoples. Solid acting, with a real emotional punch.

Jessica L (ru) wrote: While a lot of people know about the brand Chanel, and see Coco as a fashion icon, the character of Coco Chanel is lesser known. Personally I think she is a mysterious woman because she is a combination of truth and self reinvention. This woman is prideful, ambitious, and talented, well portrayed by Tautou. However, she looked a bit old for her age at the beginning of the movie. Overall a great piece of art. Though at times a little dry. The ending is especially satisfying in showing her character, skills, and success.

Alex r (br) wrote: Dead End Drive-In is a terrific low budget action film from Australia. Right from the first shot, you know that you're in for something special. Director Brian Trenchard-Smith takes the advantage of the Exploitation genre to its fullest, and creates something truly memorable. Although far from perfect, this is an entertaining film that is sure to appeal to fans of Exploitation cinema. The film has overtones of surrealism and Sci Fi horror, but it isn't a total horror film, it only merely suggests these elements and the movie pays off for the viewer looking for the ultimate in thrills. The strength of the film lies in its concept and action, and it is not a film that will be seeked out for its acting, as it is often ridiculous. If you're looking for mindless action fun, then this is the film to watch. Exploitation films are always exciting to watch because they tend to be quite different from big budget films, and most of the time they tend to have more interesting ideas as well. The film has hints of bizarre humor in the dialogue and the film has a certain look to it because it showcases a broken down society and it looks great. The characters are insane, eccentric and unique and add to the enjoyment of the film. The film is far from perfect, but it definitely is one entertaining ride from start to finish. This is one of the more original films of the 1980's and it is a must see for midnight film fans that enjoy tongue in cheek action films that are over the top in terms of concept. Dead End Drive-In is one of the better obscured cult hits that deliver some awesome entertainment that you won't soon forget.

Calvin C (it) wrote: Great music and a convincing performance by Elvis almost makes you forget the silly plot and the unrealistic look into prison life. Other than that, the title song is still catchy as ever. Grade: B

Joe C (nl) wrote: This movie has every opportunity in the world to be horrible andmanages to be amazing. I don't know how the director, cast, and crewtook something so absolutely ridiculous and make it into something sofun. It is a movie full of serious undertones and suffering, butmanages not to take itself seriously at all and find the fun in all thepain. It is sassy and full of personality. If you want to watchsomething fun and full of attitude, something campy and endearing, thisis for you. Though there are many sociological parallels to times ofunrest and change, and a lot of interesting social and politicalundertones (like feminism, corporate greed, etc), if you're looking forsomething serious or something without plot holes, inconsistencies, andmakes sense, give this a pass. This movie doesn't care to maintain the4th wall and it doesn't care to follow logic, science, or even to makesense in all its details, but it is full of humor, great campy acting, and an "I don't give a damn" attitude that tugs at my rebellious heartstrings. If I could give it 6 stars, I would. And for the Tank Girl Comic Book Purists out there. This movie isn'tthe comic book on screen. Like any good comic movie, it uses the comicbook for inspiration and finds it's own way. If it took itselfseriously enough to hold hard to comic book canon, the movie would havebeen absolutely horrible. This is Tank Girl for Christ's sake! A girlwith a pet tank and a hippie kangaroo-man lover. Don't take it soseriously.
