Journey to the Far Side of the Sun

A planet is discovered in the same orbit as Earth's but is located on the exact opposite side of the sun, making it not visible from Earth. The European Space Exploration Council decide to send American astronaut Glenn Ross and British scientist John Kane via spaceship to explore the other planet. After a disastrous crash-landing Ross awakes to learn that Kane lies near death and that they apparently have returned to Earth, as evidenced by the presence of the Council director and his staff. Released to the custody of his wife, he soon learns things are not as they seem.

Two astronauts are sent to the space to discover the new planet, which is similar to the Earth but located on the opposite site of the sun. After a crash-landing, the two wake up, only to learn that they had returned to Earth as informed by the Council. But the duo soon realize that there are something wrong. . Tomas M (mx) wrote: This is an insulting look into the lives of Puerto Ricans and depicts the lower elements of society. Benicio Del Toro has only managed to lower the public's estimation on life on the island.

Mikael K (us) wrote: Here(TM)s a rather peculiar art flick from Olivier Assayas, a rather peculiar director. The story is an odd spy tale set in a futuristic world of pornography, and the presentation is a mix of dry French drama and dreamlike surrealism. As a whole Demonlover? is clumsy stuff, but there is an enchanting quality to this oddball as well.

Adriano B (us) wrote: Now the feverish fuss about Asian horror has faded, but Out of the Dark reminds us of the golden years of the genre. With a deliciously surreal parody (putting to shame Hollywood counterparts).

Clifton D (kr) wrote: A film that solidly road the coattails of the Pixar brand's long string of successes with no merit of its own; it dupes the audience with a tearjerker opening to get them hooked, then proceeds to stuff itself with cringe-worthy characters and plods on with an uninteresting story. The protagonist himself is literally the only marginally good part in an otherwise annoying film.

Al M (gb) wrote: Awesome and brilliant late film by Bava. Truly twisted characters, but Bava still manages to flesh them out into three dimensional individuals. This film fits in the same category as The Last House on the Left, The House on the Edge of the Park, etc. Interesting to see the different direction that Bava takes in this film, which feels more like a 70s exploitation film than a Mario Bava film, yet it still manages to maintain the humanistic element so prevalent throughout Bava's work.

Stephen C (es) wrote: Four Years after the riots on the streets of Paris ,Jean Luc Godard decided to keep the flames of protest alive with this collaboration with Jean Pierre Gorin. The film is as usual packed full of stunning visual ideas and reactionary politics which gives the film a vital and still relevant effect. The film starts with cheques being torn from a cheque book as an unseen hand tries to finance a film which stars Jane Fonda as She and Yves Montard as He who are a married couple who are taken hostage during a strike at a sausage factory. The sausage factory sequence shows the struggle between the workers at the plant and the boss who they also kidnap.Godard allows his actors to direct their politics directly to camera and also uses a cutaway set to shows the actions taking place in the factory, this shows that despite all the vitrol and politics Godard never lets you forget you are watching a film made by a master craftsman. After the seige ends both He and She come out of the ordeal with different chains of thought on what has happened to then and in the films most memorable sequence we follow Fonda backwards and forwards in A supermarket where between the customers purchasing goods ,we see a communist selling little red books at a reduced rate. The film may force its political ideas in places, bu the one thing you can say about a Godard political rant is that they are always a stunning and educational watch .
