Leonard D (ru) wrote: The Twilight saga are some of the worst romantic fantasy films to ever grace the silver screen. How, just, how, could you even screw this up with a parody!?

Karl B (br) wrote: Thank God I don't listen to critics. Actually I did not read the reviews before I saw this film. Never do. And I specifically signed up on this site to counter the negativity for this film. OK, I get it. You may not like what I like and vice versa. That's OK. But I thought this film was excellent and I am recommending it to all my friends. Josh Lucas is a personal favorite ever since Sweet Home Alabama. And I think Ayelet Zurer is breathtaking beautiful. Without makeup. Great story. Great cinematography.

Mark B (it) wrote: SEE IT. From the very start with a nicked M5 creaming it over shot to the stoned naked shepherd and his equally fucking fucked dog!

David K (es) wrote: I suppose you could say that this is a bit loosely put together, but never 'dull' as someone wrote! There are LOTS of lovely moments, lots of surprises, lots of fun: like the fact that - white-skinned, fair-haired and blue-eyed - he believes himself to be an Asian until his mother sees the symbolically signficant silver spoon and tells him he was adopted ... I love what Eric Idle has done and though I'm not a John Cleese fan, his contribution is enough to satisfy those who are, and not enough to disturb the rest of us! Odd that it's not better-known, I only found it by chance: but well worth a place in anyone's collection and I will certainly watch it several times a year ... ;-) By the way, he's not a 'lowly bank employee' like the synopsis says, he's a stockbroker handling multimillion-pound deals with his own secretary : but he *lives* in a corner-shop in Southall with his Asian family...

Rich B (ca) wrote: For a Lost Soldier (1992) ? When I see ?Strand Releasing? in the opening credits of a movie, it means I?m in for a rough ride. This motion picture company is no stranger to difficult topics. In ?For a Lost Soldier?, a 12 year-old boy, escaping Nazi tyranny by fleeing Amsterdam into the Netherlands, is kept by a sympathizer family as the war drags on. The boy has gay tendencies, but doesn?t realize them until a Canadian solider, more interested in boys than girls, makes friends with him during the liberation of Netherlands. Eventually, the soldier takes advantage of the boy, who has fallen in love with the soldier. One day, the soldier abruptly leaves, breaking the kid?s heart. Years and years later, the kid is an adult (Joroen Krabbe) directing a small ballet company, but the pain of that separation still haunts him. In the end, the movie attempts to resolve his pain into a powerful, new beginning. That, apparently, was lost in the translation. It is a powerful film. A tolerant "foster" father is the most remarkable character in the film. This is director Roeland Kerbosch?s only film, and that?s a shame. I sometimes wonder when I see these great little films and then the guy disappears. Was it his story? The kids never surface again, either, despite strong performances.

Chris C (nl) wrote: The master of brutal action and non-acting reaches his pinnacle of brutalism with this flick that has in its 91 minute run time more wrist breakings, shootouts, f-bombs and just out and out violence than most action movies. And I applaud it for what it is.

JJ M (us) wrote: Masterfully written and realised on screen. This is a romantic comedy worth getting your head around and challanging your intellect with.

Lovro H (mx) wrote: After watching Poultrygeist and loving it, I decided to check out more movies from Troma, first being Class of Nuke 'em High. The story revolves around Tromaville high school that is built near a power plant. There's a radiation leak in the power plant and a worker there was growing marijuana so the marijuana got infected and students who smoked it, got infected. That's sort of the story. I cannot really explain it. Two kids who smoked the marijuana start experiencing some difficulties and the girl suffers a miscarriage and the baby is hiding in the school basement slowly growing. Yeah... There're also some school thugs, the Cretins, who are selling the drugs and who want to destroy the school. It's very tough to explain this movie. Anyways... The acting is almost bad. It lingers between acceptable/decent and bad/unwatchable, but that's also what makes the movie fun to watch. The characters are okay, none really stick out, though. The gore effects are awesome, when there is gore. That's the biggest problem I have with the movie. I know it was made in the 80s, but it's really annoying when there's something violent/disgusting happening and you only get to see it for 4 seconds before an abrupt cut to a different scene. It's very tame, suprisingly. The soundtrack is weird, but good. There're constantly some punk/rock songs playing throughout the entire movie. All in all, an obviously cheap trash movie, but it has some pretty funny moments, great practical effects and a plot so strange and weird that you have to see it to believe it.

Tom H (au) wrote: Slow moving but good film focusing on the self destructive psyche of Peck`s character.

Luke R (it) wrote: "That's a wrap" on what could have been one of the greatest horror franchises ever.

Jos Carlos (ag) wrote: 'Rio' falls in comparisons as its premise is not exactly new or innovative and it's even somewhat weak compared to other animated films of the same year. But the voice acting is energetic and outstanding (with Anne Hathaway standing out), the animation is colourful and excellent, and the story is joyful and funny enough for kids to enjoy more than just once. Its music should also provide another good reason to recommend.
