Monica B (de) wrote: One of the finest movies, Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson were so believable as two people who are on a last chance on a happy life... a slow and steady romance loved it

Andy F (kr) wrote: It is what it is I guess. Historic, dramatic, visually stunning and moving. Easy to get carried away with the sentiment as it doesn't linger as long in the mind as you might think.

Yva S (mx) wrote: Starts off well, then things become illogical, then it sort of fizzles out. It has a good half hour or so at the beginning.

Carlo B (ag) wrote: never had a brother. seeking this movie for a suitable reaction if ever having one. yes! movies are my life and I live through the movies.

Chris R (br) wrote: Loved this movie when I initially saw it in theaters; I even purchased the DVD on its release day. However, subsequent views of this film reveal how over the top the performances are, especially Denzel. Still a solid flick, worth a view but it doesn't stand the test of time as much as I thought it would.

Daniel M (es) wrote: It was okay. It was kinda weird at the end

Jason D (jp) wrote: Elves is a hilarious and surprisingly dark Christmas film about three very dumb girls (who seem to act WAY too much like Valley girls in such a small town) awaken one very nasty Elf when the lead girl's blood spills on the ground. Somehow, the elf is the creation of Nazis in order to breed with a virgin to create a master race of Christmas elves! Awesome! Now, it's up to said lead girl and old Grizzly Adams himself (Dan Haggerty playing the mall Santa with nary a scene within this movie without a cigarette in hand, lol) to come to the rescue and stop this murderous elf before it takes over the world. It doesn't get any better than this, folks. Everything is on par with so-bad-it's-good quality: the acting (though Haggerty is a blast to watch), the effects, the direction, everything! Also, for all you nudity enthusiasts, it's very brief, but the lead girl's villainous mom has an excellent full-body nude scene that's surprisingly decent for her age. Any avid fan who watches this will certainly enjoy it's....charm, especially if they go into it with lowered expectations. Honestly though, who could say no to a film with such groundbreaking dialog like "Die you faggot" and "When there's no more room in Hell, the Elves will walk the Earth"? Also, this film needs to make the leap onto DVD. I would certainly buy this hot mess!

Christopher B (gb) wrote: Do not be fooled by the correct sentences used throughout this tale. It is a proper romantic comedy musical for all who consider themselves grown enough for such a concoction. Sinatra, Brando, and Simmons - three icons taking career risks. Lovely Luck: she's a Lady, you know.

Michael L (ca) wrote: i never would have mickey rooney had it in him. this is a ::shock:: true dramatic role and he is up to the task! overall, this is a solid noir thriller with a great wages of fear lite style dramatic car-down-a-bumpy-road scene

Mary R (it) wrote: wish it was available. been lookin for it for years cuz its my moms fav. movie

Roy S (us) wrote: Poor Burt Reynolds. In 1977, he is the biggest star in Hollywood. Ten years later, he is in movies like this that critics hate and audiences stay away from in droves. This one isn't terrible. It is a pretty standard "tough violent stranger fights with rich guy who's trying to take land away from mild mannered folk" story a la SHANE. Reynolds tries to stretch a bit playing it uncharactisticly straight, smug-free, and he never laughs. He and his nemeses keep the dialog hard and quiet. There is violence, but it isn't ridiculously over the top. There is even some fancy camerawork and lighting on a couple of occasions; but in the end it is what it is. Cliff Robertson is a rather ill-defined villain who is hatching some ill-defined but vaguely nefarious right-wing plot, and as usual in these stories the Shane-like character and the good simple people he helps get way too attached to each other way too quickly.
