There is nothing new here, just a retread of the action formula, where a lone ex-cop from the country has to protect his lawyer girlfriend when she is targeted by a gang of vicious drug runners. For an action fan, this one is OK, with decent enough action scenes and not too much story in between. Anyone else, stay away!

Matthew C (kr) wrote: Not by any means a great film, this is still an interesting, somewhat sad look at the life of a daring, violent, adventurous man after his battles are fought. Sean Connery, only in his mid 40s, looks like an old man (pretty much looks the same today as he did in this film), selling his weary, wary old soldier. Audrey Hepburn is just flaky enough to work as the aged Marian, who seems more than a little crazy. And Robert Shaw is the perfect shade of suave, mixed with complacent amusement for his mellowed Sheriff of Nottingham. For fans of the actors or of the Robin Hood myth, it's worth a watch. But it really is kind of a dud.

The first half of the film was more interesting when they were researching it and their trip to Mars, but once they get there, it all goes down hill. From them tethering up to reach Mars once their ship gets damaged to continual dumb choices once they get there just ruined the film for me. This could have been something interesting, but the characters were really dumb and I just couldn't believe scientists would be that stupid.
