Barry T (kr) wrote: Sadly this is a huge misfire for Sheridan Smith which seems a shame as she is so good. Its very stagey and its unconvincing as she wouldnt be friends with such a mixed bunch. The Winstone group of freinds are much nicer for a night out with. The Chaplin group are annoying
Simon D (us) wrote: Here is a Maverick film director, there isn't really anyone else like him. His early films are so weird that there are more questions than answers, but they are great; creative and totally random. This is his latest film which seems like an autobiographical film about his childhood. I don't know if any of it actually happened but, if it did, then it does go a long way to explaining why his films are so bonkers. I like the fact that he got his son, who I think was also in El Topo, to play his own father when he was younger. A splendidly weird film.

Michael W (jp) wrote: Imagine eating five or six pieces of toast as a meal, wouldn't you be left feeling like, "Is this it?!?" It isn't that there is anything wrong with toast, but piece after piece it wouldn't make for much of a meal in it of itself. In the same way, City by the Sea just didn't leave me satisfied. It wasn't that there was anything blaringly wrong with it, but it never presented any interesting flavors to savor; it just bored me. Things picked up later in the movie, and I did like the poignancy of the ending, but I just didn't think it was worth the wait to get there. The trailer makes it look like an edge of your seat thriller - it is not.
Robert M (mx) wrote: i thought thi movie was halarious. a bit corny at times but the overall message is well rounded and makes sense. typical chick flick happy ending but it is by no means a chick flick. a handful of great actors and a bunch of hot females. what more could you ask for in an american pie spin-off.
