Maksim B (jp) wrote: Colorful, funny and visually beautiful, Finding Dory is a most expected sequel to the all-time classic Finding Nemo, which simply delivers more of what made the original movie such a legendary animation. Loaded with family-friendly messages and exploring interesting social territories, the sequel lacks the originality and the moving power of its predecessor. It provides the feeling of "been there, seen that" and even if it is highly entertaining for kids, it will definitely be considered a lesser delivery by adults. The story uses the same formula which was surrounding Nemo, but it also adds up a sort of complexity due to Dory's (Ellen DeGeneres) amnesia condition. Funny, fast-paced and filled with unexpected twists Andrew Stanton & Angus MacLane's cartoon is a sort of wild ride in search of Dory's parents, while it also develop an intriguing sub-plotline related to Nemo and Nemo's father parent-son relationship. Unfortunately, Pixar's delivery lacks the originality and the emotional grip which Finding Nemo had 13 years ago. It is all fun, it has some powerful moments, but the predictability makes it impossible to be fully absorbed by the story. Add-up also a second half of the story that seems even unrealistic from kids' perspectives and you will get a delivery which is pleasing for children, but not entirely interesting for adults. Several truly funny characters, such as the hilarious octopus, are capable of maintaining the overall high fun level, but still Finding Dory can never escape from the label "been there, seen that".In conclusion, if you have kids, Finding Dory is a must have for your collection and it is always nice to see it with them. It may also be enjoyable if you watch it without having kids around, but then it will be just one of the many colorful and lively animations that have been made recently: it will entertain, but it will be forgotten after some time.

Wrik S (us) wrote: Classic art house stuff, but can be a bit confusing to an ordinary movie goer, just because of the intensity involved.. Kalki, like most times, is flawless, and the storyline is executed to perfection with different characters fitting in perfectly.. A little more clarity towards the end could have helped, but doesn't take away anything from the overall package

Jake N (au) wrote: Wow WOw WOW!!! Who the hell would have wasted time and money on this peice of S**t film. Arnie and Sigourney should sue the makers of this "film".The sets are the terrible, the camera workn is lazy, and the same shot is used twice. same dialoug and everything. Ben M (es) wrote: So stupid it's funny. Based on the creative and genius book by the Late Roald Dahl, this movie is quite the insult. The songs don't make sense and they should have made it completely Stop-Motion.

Stuart K (ag) wrote: One of the first Blaxploitation films to make it big, based upon Chester Himes' 1965 novel, the 6th in a series of Harlem Detective books, and co-written and directed for film by Ossie Davis, (best known as John F. Kennedy in Bubba Ho-tep (2002)), this is a down and dirty cop movie but with a black streak of humour throughout. Two New York detectives, Gravedigger Jones (Godfrey Cambridge) and Coffin Ed Johnson (Raymond St. Jacques) are on the tail of a huge bale of cotton, filled with $87,000 of the life savings of poor black families. The detectives go looking for this bale of cotton but it always seems to be one step ahead of them, and it brings trouble wherever it goes. While investigating, they keep coming across black nationalist leader Reverend Deke O'Malley (Calvin Lockhart), who had planned to use the $87,000 to help some of the poor families reunite with distant relatives in Africa. But, Gravedigger and Coffin Ed don't have a softly-softly approach to solving crime, and they don't trust the Reverend one bit either, as he has an agenda of his own. A very ambitious film for it's time, combining urban humour with the gritty hardships of the ghetto of Harlem, but it has some memorable moments and some good action too. A sequel followed 2 years later, but that's rarer than hen's teeth sadly.
