King Lear, old and tired, divides his kingdom among his daughters, giving great importance to their protestations of love for him. When Cordelia, youngest and most honest, refuses to idly flatter the old man in return for favor, he banishes her and turns for support to his remaining daughters. But Goneril and Regan have no love for him and instead plot to take all his power from him. In a parallel, Lear's loyal courtier Gloucester favors his illegitimate son Edmund after being told lies about his faithful son Edgar. Madness and tragedy befall both ill-starred fathers.

(es) wrote: a fascinating look at real life high school debate teams and how the nature of debating itself has changed in the US. what was once an activity based on arguing the pros and cons of an issue, has become a competition based on who can argue using the best techniques. what starts out as a film merely documenting the lives of high school debaters takes an interesting turn and delves into the notion of inherent racism not only in the debating realm, but in the educational system and other institutions which are labeled under the pretext of serving the greater good. an interesting and thought provoking film!

(ru) wrote: Shrek Forever After is almost nothing more than a remake of It's a Wonderful Life equipped with weak, uncorrelated ideas that try to make this movie a little more different than It's a Wonderful Life, like how does Shrek and fiona kissing at midnight undo the evil magical spell? DreamWorks Animation continues to disappoint. Doesn't live up to the same glory as either Shrek 1 or 2.

The visual style and characterisation in this short is nothing short of amazing. By the looks of the trailer for the "full-length" version, that's been carried over and given a lovely, high-def makeover, yet retaining the grimy, dirty feel of the original short. And it looks damn scary for an animation, too!
(ru) wrote: Good performances from Firth and Hunt but a generic story with few attractive qualities means I won't be watching this again soon.
(br) wrote: I had mixed feelings toward this film.... I enjoyed the first half, but the shift the film makes midway through almost derails the entire thing..... beautifully shot no less, and the performances are truly great from relatively unknown actors..... it's at times gruesome, mostly utterly mind boggling, but it's worth a watch,...
(br) wrote: definately not one of Willis's best. Music was awful, acting just as bad. And with the cast that was listed, it seemed like it would have some potential.
(nl) wrote: Super interesting story! I hope my reunion is half as fun as these guys haha
(it) wrote: The acting is kind of deadpan and awkward, but the genius plot behind it kept me concentrated and incredibly interested the entire time.
