(kr) wrote: This is a love letter to the fans. If you ever loved the Trigun anime, or even the manga for that matter, you owe it to yourself to see this movie. It's got the humor, action, and wonderful characters you've come to expect, with the new addition of a bigger budget and a brand new story not taken from the manga. The only problem with it is that not enough people know about it. So spread the word to your fellow Trigun fans. They deserve it, too.

I think Mann did a terrific job though, he created a film that shows the complete Ali from all angles. With no holes barred the film delves deep into Ali's background, his personal life, his religious beliefs and his fighting career creating something that truly represents this great figure. As well as showing him at his strongest, the film also uniquely shows Ali at his weakest, making it a more honest and true to life film than perhaps was originally expected from fans. It's not a film about boxing, it's a film about Muhammad Ali.As a big fan of Muhammad Ali, I've watched a vast amount of documentaries and video's online over the years about his life and his boxing career. In my opinion Ali replicates the life of the Louisville Lip brilliantly. In particular, Will Smith is unbelievably brilliant in the title role. A career defining performance from him in what I believe to be his greatest role. John Voight and Jamie Foxx also gave good performances, supporting Will Smith well. One of my favourite sporting biographical films about one of my favourite sporting heroes of all time. The film is moving, exciting and inspiring. A true testament to the late, great, Muhammad Ali.

(br) wrote: The plot of "The Big Gundown" is a little thin, centered on a sharpshooting lawman (spaghetti-western stalwart Lee Van Cleef) in pursuit of a Mexican peasant (Tomas Milian) accused of raping and killing a 12-year-old girl. Their passive-aggressive rivalry, bordering on friendship, is the heart of the film. A wealthy man of dubious principle (Walter Barnes) and an icy German marksman (Gerard Herter) are also in the mix, but female characters are in short supply. The incomparable Ennio Morricone supplies the score, though it's mostly variations on a single theme. Otherwise, his most interesting move is a twisted repurposing of Beethoven's "Fur Elise."The Italian version is about 20 minutes longer than the American version. I saw a less-than-optimal edit where the Italian scenes were inserted back into the film, undubbed. (Predictably, most of the cuts fall within the first half-hour or so.) I'd like to see a fully dubbed version someday.

While the first two were fun and gritty, and there are flashes of that in this one, overall, it fails to pick up the same style that made the first two great. The villains are incredibly one dimensional and have almost no depth whatsoever, and a lot of the acting is from bad to just okay, aside from Wesley Snipes who is great as usual as the hero Blade, and Ryan Reynolds, who steals virtually every scene he's in as Hannibal King. Dracula, the main antagonist however, is straight up bad, a poorly written script and some ho-him acting from Dominic Purcell was really disappointing. The special effects are great as usual, but it barley distracts from what is just not a very good movie. Blade: Trinity is not without its moments though, and that may just put it over the edge for some

(br) wrote: The action is extremely intense and never fails to leave you on the edge of your seat, the acting is really impressive, and you find yourself rooting for the good guys to win throughout the entire film. Best Christmas movie of all-time.
