Jim D (br) wrote: I just read the book so decided to check out the movie. Not good. A few good vignettes but overall disjointed and emotionless. No particular reason for Dustin Hoffman to play Dutch Schultz, and the actor playing Billy Bathgate was a limp noodle. On top of that they radically changed the ending which ended any chance they had of redeeming this movie. I hope someone makes an attempt at a remake because the book was great!
Andrew B (au) wrote: Larry Cohens ridiculous tribute to werewolf movies. Not as good as teen wolf, or An American Werewolf, or Ginger Snaps, or The Howling. But compared to all the bad werewolf movies ever made this one is the least bad.
Jason G (gb) wrote: I have no idea how films like this could possibly compete with the stuff that the HAMMER STUDIOS were pumping out at the time but I guess every era has it's "B" movies and this is one of them... Great lighting and camerawork (in only SOME areas of the overall film)... make this picture a tad bit uneven but it's worth a watch if you're in the mood for some swingin' sixties style horror. Clocking in at 79 minutes makes it the absolute perfect length as the film is over long before you start to notice that it's only a 3-star picture... Good for fans of the genre...
