Bryan T (de) wrote: Not a particularly great film. It is interesting enough to watch through, but with so much more competition now, independent/art films need more than just bizarre interludes, sporadic dialogue and quirky actors -- all of which this movie has, and nothing more.

Prathaban M (fr) wrote: For someone completely unfamiliar with the Hispanic culture in LA, this movie gives a nice little peek into it. But there is nothing really great about this it though. It looked and felt more like a teen flick than a 'social' drama.

Phillie E (fr) wrote: In the first few minutes, it seems like the movie is heading somewhere, then you realize that somewhere is the bargain bin DVD pile at WalMart.

Rob K (gb) wrote: Good film...out there...but overall it is well done. Lot of different people and story lines that needs to be followed, however in the end they all tie up nicely. I would recommend this film to other people.

Matt G (gb) wrote: I really tried to squelch my inherent cynicism with this one, but the rom-com songs and constant corny sentimentality just ripped it right out of me. Garner's performance is great, following in Hanks "Big" footsteps, and there are a couple of decent laughs. But mostly, this is just a cheap and predictable body-swap comedy that doesn't even get its main character quite right (as a 13-year-old, she's debilitatingly shy, but as a 30-year old, she's spunky and outgoing?)

Chris Z (mx) wrote: A Cronenberg film that's not about violations/transformations of the body? What? About drag racing? Huh? For realz. As a decidedly B-movie, this is actually pretty decent. Definitely some effort put into the camera work, the story is throwaway, but there's some pretty neat footage of the racing and such. I guess if you're into fast cars driving REALLY fast in a straight line for very short distances...Also has one of the most hilarious exploding endings EVER. I actually had to re-wind it twice and go frame-by-frame to understand what happened. What happened is, no joke, the racer guy chases after the evil executive (who is taking off in an airplane) with his race car, and rams into the plane, causing it to fly into the air, then back down out of the air into the company's racing trailer which EXPLODES!The cast is hilarious. You have a metric plethora of hicks and rednecks. Even the "babes" in the movie are, uh, shall we say, of a decidedly B-movie quality. And one of the characters is named Meatball. And he actually looks not too dissimilar to Meatloaf, perhaps they are related? This movie also has the cheesiest motor-oil-innuendo-leading-to-a-threesome-with-the-two-hitchiking-shortshorts-montanagirls in a freaking redneck racing trailer that one could ever imagine. This movie is what it is, and nothing more.

Cattera Y (fr) wrote: Tropic ThunderYou know it's a good movie where you get to see great actors trying their best to nail their worst acting

Joe S (kr) wrote: This film is beautifully shot. The setting feels quite claustrophobic and the camera is as in-your-face as the locals. It's not so much scary, like a thriller, but rather scary because of how apathetic people can become. This film will make you see the Outback in a whole new light.
