Jeremi S (au) wrote: Peanuts is in great hands. The people who made this obviously have an excellent understanding of what the work of Charles Schulz was all about. This is the closest to the classic specials from the 1960s we can get. The material is all drawn from original Peanuts comic strips from that era. The characters look and sound like the characters from the classic holiday specials. Only the characters from that era are present. This "movie" (it is less than 50 minutes long, but probably the perfect length) provokes thought and is deeper and more insightful than most children's animation from any era. It is not paced like modern animation; it is paced like a classic Peanuts special. It offers a chance to slow down, take a deep, calming breath, and consider who we are and why we do the things we do. We all have a security blanket, even though it's probably not a blanket and may not be easily noticed by others. If you enjoy the classic Peanuts specials, such as "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown", this movie is a must-have. By understanding what made the original specials truly special, the creators of "Happiness is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown" have made a new classic, almost 50 years later, and for that we should all be grateful to them and support this work, in hopes more like this will be made.

Alex W (de) wrote: I have seen much worse 80's movies, the film also knows its a little ridiculous so who cares. It takes plenty of swings and has about as many hits as misses. There is also a little bit of social commentary mixed in, just enough to make me give it some credit.

Edward B (nl) wrote: Actress Huang Hsin-Hsiu really commands the majority of this film. A beautiful and skilled actress/martial artist. It seems to be strictly a drama, interspersed with fight scenes, but towards the end a hero retreats to the wilderness and discovers a mantis and adopts its fighting style. I really loved this one. Great sets, as always amazing choreography and the acting was outstanding.
Andrew S (au) wrote: The great, Italian director Mario Bava?s penultimate film, which remained officially unreleased for 28 years as a result of the production company going bankrupt. Two versions of the film now exist: Bava?s unfinished work print from the seventies; and a version from 2001, which features a new score and additional scenes shot by Bava?s son. This review is for the former; avoid the latter! It?s an unbearably taut and suspenseful crime film about a gang of thieves who take a woman, a man, and a child hostage during their getaway. Most of the film takes place within a single car as tensions boil over in the sweltering summer heat. It?s a deeply cynical film about the human condition, with one of cinema?s finest, darkest endings. The performances by all of the actors are extraordinary -- especially Luigi Montefiori and Aldo Caponi as two of the eponymous rabid dogs -- and the cinematography, score, and editing are outstanding. Bava was known for the colorful, stylish visuals of his horror and fantasy films. Here his aesthetic is much more gritty and raw, but it?s no less assured: nobody else has ever got camera angles out of a car as well as Bava does here.
