David D (jp) wrote: This six part mini-series is a real tribute to the legend of the vampire. It combines hi-tech weaponry, biotechnology and a dash of political intrigue and philosophy to form an amazing world-setting for the modern day vampire legend. Without a doubt, there is something inherently fitting about a vampire driving a classic Mercedes in Europe. A word of caution: this tale is intellectually intense. I recommend having a degree in the biological sciences to experience it fully. Furthermore I found the dialogue a little hard to follow because of the British slang that was thrown into the script. When you combine this with the fact that all the actors have British accents(which adds to the confusion if you are not used to hearing them) I would totally recommend that that you sit up, turn up the volume, put down your glass of wine and pay attention. If someone is talking tell them to shut the hell up or you will both miss one of the coolest vampire series ever. This movie requires a dark room, rain outside and an impressionable-slightly-depressed mood to experience completely. I recommend treating this film as a lecture series because of the sheer volume of facts that one has to keep track of to fully appreciate what the writer and director have done. I have a biochemistry degree from university which inspires me to watch this series every year because of the detail given to the biology of vampires. Never before have I seen such a scientifically detailed work of art in the history of television with respect to a legendary beast. I am a little dissappointed that this six-part mini-series didn't turn into a full blown television show. It would have been a boon for Europe's film industry since there is a plethora of old buildings and cities that would have made perfect settings for each episode. If you are a fan of the vampire legend, this is a must see.

Brian V (jp) wrote: It was enjoyable to see Eric Bana's early work. Based on an interesting real life person (not sure if it's an Aussie thing, but there's a note at the beginning that says it takes narrative liberties, which I appreciate). If nothing else, this movie is worth the watch to see the weirdest failed jail assassination attempt I've ever seen.
