Kongo

Kongo

From a wheelchair a handicapped white man rules an area of Africa as a living god. He rules the local natives through superstition and stage magic and he rules the few white people through sadism, keeping them virtual prisoners. He lives for the day he can avenge himself horribly on the man who stole his wife and crushed his spine. Strong and macabre stuff in a nearly forgotten horror film.

Arun G (us) wrote: Inferior by all means to the original, this one simply passes for popcorn entertainment. JCVD's attempt to pull off a 'Creed' doesn't really hit the intended mark.

Jacob M (es) wrote: Sadly beautiful. The story is heartbreaking, but you don't want to miss a second of it. Tears will build in the eyes of those who have a heart, and get caught up in the story. Studio Ghibli strikes again by making a captivating story that will have you from the beginning until the end. The animation and voice acting are breath taking. Following this small family through the horrors of war will open the eyes of all.

Cameron C (ru) wrote: There's not many ratings for this movie. So, I'm going to write one. This movie is very impressive. I bet people do not know that this movie was made on a tight budget and finished with credit cards. It shows the embarassing reality of how limited black actors can be in the movies. I think this movie should be recommended for young black actors who need to be reminded that they too can play any role they desire and have integrity.

Daniel F (gb) wrote: This film was produced at Zoetrope Studios in Hollywood under the direction of Francis Ford Capolla and Wim Wenders. A lot of the mood and atmospherics ended up on the cutting room floor. I had a scene with a bunch of pool players in Chinatown that disappeared. In France it became a huge hit! It went under the radar in the US. Good cast in the pulp noire genre.

Martyn M (ag) wrote: Raquel Welch portrays the title role of a female gunslinger out for revenge on a trio of brutal outlaw brothers, aided by a quite, but ruthlessly effiecient bounty hunter, Robert Culp, who tutors her in the use of a gun. He can't teach her to kill, for that, as we see, she has to learn how to do it herself. This British made western is similar to the much better known Spaghetti films that emerged around the time, and between them Welch and Culp are both competant enough for the most part of this film, they both lack the smouldering intensity that was displayed by Clint Eastwood in his contemporary roles..Borgnine is superb as the eldest and leader of the odious trio, stealing the show as he often did in many films. A role in which he is superbly complemented with the presence of Elam and Strother.Christopher Lee, as the gunsmith, turns up and does the job competantly enough in a role that is not too requiring of his immense talent.Diana Dors presence is superficial, and one wonders why she required such a high billing in the credits for what is a cameo appearance. The job could have suited a myriad of lesser known actresses. All in all not a bad film. Action scenes are on par for the fashion of the time, 1971.An enjoyable western with the odd cliche of Mexican bandits and soldiers, saloon shoot-outs and a fairly standard final shoot-out that we all know how it ends.

Carol H (mx) wrote: If "Sabrina" was one of Audrey Hepburn's best films, then "Paris When It Sizzles" is one of her worst. I couldn't even get past the first fifteen minutes; it's just so random and ridiculous.
