Mikey (gb) wrote: I am a huge fan of rodney carrington, so when i heard he was in a movie, i had to see it. Much to my expectance, this movie was really funny. I love the redneck comedy movies, and this one didn't let me down.

Kimberly H (ca) wrote: This was a really cheesey movie that would be good for the older generations of people. This is because of the predictable lines and plot. However, it was kind of like the Hardy Boys and Nacy Drew. It could have been better.

Luke B (nl) wrote: Okay effects, generic characters, gruesome deaths. Nothing out of the ordinary from this film apart from the fact it is quite enjoyable. That's a given though when you feature soldiers, scientists, dinosaurs and Coolio. Bet that gangsters paradise is looking mighty good in comparison. You should be happy with what you have. The overall feel is more professional than many similar films and some of the lines are damn side splitting in their absurdity. It never quite capitalise on some of the moral issues concerning Professor Lovecraft. It is however a much better film than Jurassic Park III.

Jairo A (jp) wrote: I'm not a big Steve Martin fan but Queen Latifah worked really well with him in this film. It seems a lot of people got turned off the racial jokes but I think it made the movie funnier for me. This is definitely a guilty pleasure for me.

Thomas P (au) wrote: Kitchy, quirky, awkward - and then Madonna steps in and brings the cool - saving the day. A decent rom-com flick that is greater than the sum of its parts.Tho she can't save the whole thing, Madonna steps into this bad tv movie about a bored and desperate housewife, and makes this role her very own, raising it well above where it was heading without her.Wisely, the director let Madonna do her thing, so it all winds up better for it.Honestly, there are more comic misfires than not which leaves you not really laughing. The awkward housewife bit detracts, but the story of her following Madonna gets going, and this becomes an adventure that is light and fun, and keeps your attention. What u may then appreciate is the urban, scrappy New York scene which is perfectly-synced here from the 80's.Even now, Madonnas song featured here (Get) Into The Groove bursts out resiliently, just as Madonna's career did then. So, whether a nostalgic trip, or a fresh look back, if you get past the mediocre mystery caper, you will find the kitchy fun and light romance satisfying. When I saw this with friends in its original theatrical release, we just about lost our minds when Into The Groove came on as part of the movie. I will always remember that moment. The movie comes off as dated now, but Madonna and her hijinx captured here on film remains fresh and interesting. If you only watch it for her, you wont be disappointed.3 sparkly sunglasses out of 5
