(ca) wrote: #SECRET #THINGS Awe man...from the SIZZLING, sultry, seductive intro all the way to the twisted ending that was born out of a gorgeous plot, this movie ROXX!!! If you're looking for something that's totally to the left & not your average, everyday, run-of-the-mill drama/suspense...THIS is definitely it. The movie is in FRENCH, so if you're lazy or need hooked on PHONICS this isn't the one for you bud/budette. If you have a wonderful understanding for art, cinematography & culture this is one movie you'll love! I saw this one & bought it the same day! *WARNING* It is rather steamy so if you have kids (which i don't but i have nephews & a niece) please don't even turn it on unless they are knocked out. It's very graphic. (5 out of 5 stars Wed 9/8/2010 4:38pm Eastern)

(es) wrote: Mel Brooks takes a poke at horror films! Again! After pretty much making the perfect parody of classic horror in "Young Frankenstein", why did Brooks feel the need to return to the subject matter and poke fun at "Dracula"? The only real reason is that there had been a recent feature film hit with Coppola's "Dracula", and Brooks didn't really have any other ideas cooking. Sort of similar to the only real reason he made "Robin Hood: Men in Tights". Leslie Nielson is always funniest to me when he plays characters very straight, never truly acknowledging how dumb or goofy he is, playing everything so straight it becomes the joke. Here he isn't as bad as he got in some other films (like, say "Wrongfully Accused"), but he is really riding the line here. It is a real shame that seems to be Brooks final film, as it looks unlikely he will return behind the camera anytime soon. This film lacks the genuine spark of humor and irreverence he once had in his peak, and feels much more bland and humorless instead.

(br) wrote: Were I NOT the Jamie Lee Curtis slasher completist I am, there would simply be little reason to watch this wildly subpar entry in the genre. As such I am remiss to advise anyone to watch such steaming dog refuse as this under even the most pressing of circumstances. The threadbare plot essentially is: JLC on train after prank gone bad.....victim of prank seeks vengeance.....JLC is obligatory Final Girl trope personified. What this film lacks in star power it also lacks in story, sound, pacing and watchability. A lackluster and ultimately horrifying turn from David Copperfield as, wait for it, a fucking magician, distracts from suicidal ideation momentarily, but soon you are thinking of whether the cold embrace of death is actually as daunting as watching another Copperfield cameo-turned-shameless-self-promo. It would be funnier if he was wearing a costume. And the killer wears a Groucho Marx mask.......so.....yeah.....
