Jake A (it) wrote: By no means a perfect film that has a predictable plot and only and average script however the cast is great who all do a really good job, Denis Leary is a great villain, the soundtrack is solid, the action is great, it is entertaining throughout and it is shot really well.

If you don't have a better appreciation for American History after this musical...than you are hopeless. Great Music, Great Humor, and superb acting. Love it when plays become successful movies.
Joe A (ag) wrote: Russian film is more of a spooky fairy tale then a horror film as it tells the story of an arrogant young monk who encounters, and in fear, beats, an old witch who then, near death, transforms into a young girl. In a horrifying turn of events, on her death bed, she requests the monk to preside over her corpse during the wake. This means he must spend three increasingly scary nights alone with the vengeful young witch's body. The visuals are worth watching this for by themselves and the film uses them to create some haunting sequences and great atmoshere. Each night with the body is worse then the last and it plays like a story out of the Brothers Grimm as the young monk learns the consequences for his wrongful deed. This "horror" flick is a favorite and is highly recommended to those who appreciate something different.

Emily R (gb) wrote: I thought that the ending (not knowing what happened to the family) was disappointing. Abner decides to kill himself and in the process frame Lonzo Choat for his murder. Then Lonzo goes into the blazing building and saves Abner. So when it shows the empty house at the end, how do we know what happened. Did Abner have Lonzo arrested and the family thrown out? I thought it had some good moments, but could have been a much more interesting story if the writer had not left the ending so ambiguous. I wouldn't watch it again.
