(de) wrote: This film has the potential to change lives. Everyone in America needs to see this film. It not only exposes the truth about what happened in the Gulf in 2010 but it shows a much bigger picture of government corruption and those working to hide what is really going on in our country. If you are inspired by the social change taking place in our country then you will LOVE this film.
(fr) wrote: This is one of those movies that can be accurately summed up by the word confusing?. Director Giorgos Lanthimos takes the viewer to an odd journey into the lives of a mysterious group of people who make their living by impersonating other people. They can replace an ex-spouse, dead relative, whoever a customer wants. They learn their requested lines and act out whatever is wanted.Lanthimos utilizes a rough and challenging shooting style. Many scenes are shot from behind corners and the character(TM)s backs. Even when an actor(TM)s face is lined in a close-up- often obviously zoomed- the viewer is distanced from the scene. The documentary style is a contrast to the absurdity of the subject matter and the surrealism of the story, confusing an already lost viewer even further. The scenes where the characters are impersonating other people are simply odd, their unnatural tone exaggerated. But even more disturbing are the scenes where the group- who convene in a murky gymnasium, as oppresiiver as anything else in the flick- interact. The symbolic motif of complete evaporation of identity is about the only thing that can be drawn from these scenes, but they are deeply uncomfortable to watch. After about 80 minutes of offering intense but confusing scenes of nonsensical character interaction Lanthimos does something baffling. He offers a 10-minute finale that is every bit as surreal as anything that came before but in some not immediately obvious way both devastatingly oppressive and endlessly beautiful. I departed the screening lounge literally out of breath.I can(TM)t claim to understand everything "Alps" is about, but the overall intensity and memorable ending validate it(TM)s value, even as a bulk of it screams pretention. From an ironic standpoint, that pretentiousness is of course only fitting with the film's main themes. Metatextuality?

(it) wrote: Really forgettable I don't think there's a scene where I can be hyped the most exciting scene is when Peggy shows caps shield. I hate to be mean but marvel has been dying to me. Hopefully the new spider man can change my mind of marvel even though Sonys doing spider man

(it) wrote: An excellent and suspenseful marriage of vengeance that would have made Hitchcock proud. Marilyn Monroe and Joseph Cotton really shine in these quite different roles for them, and Jean Peters and Casey Adams as the unfortunate Cutlers caught in between them. Recommended either for fans of suspense flicks or for those who adore the two ill-advised lovers.
