Ethan P (es) wrote: The Hundred Foot Journey was a delightful surprise. Yes it was rudimentary and lacked originality, but it is a perfectly distracting feel good movie with considerable charm. I expected it to be a slow and dry retread, but it has a lot of life and emotion. The characters love their food and it creates both a war and a love affair. The characters are very amiable and good-looking, but they lack much real depth. My favorite part of the film was actually the middle. The feud between the two restaurants was played very well. It was amusing, and the interplay between the two generations of lovers was great, one dueling and one falling in love. The attack on the Indian restaurant, Hassan burning his hands and Helen Mirren firing her next in line was the height of the movie. IT gave the movie guts and depth, but from there it veered into very predictable and somewhat melodramatic territory. The older couple falls in love, the younger one splits apart, he rises to glory but gets lonely returns home. Happily ever after.

Marischa B (jp) wrote: The divorced Lorraine Burton (Maria Bello) is an insecure woman that raises her seven year-old son Chad (Connor Hill) alone and without money. Her ex-husband Gary (Jeff Joslin) is a former military that went in court martial and presses Lorraine to take Chad for him.One day, Lorraine stops her car in a gas station after her therapy to buy frozen pizzas for Chad and her. When she returns, the bank robber Roy (Stephen Dorff) carjacks them and heads to Tijuana, Mexico with Lorraine and Chad. Along their journey, Lorraine tries to protect Chad from the psychopath Roy."Carjacket" is lame garbage, with a stupid story, awful screenplay and a collection of clichs. The plot is so ridiculous that does not worth to spend my time writing about this crap. My vote is one (awful).
James W (it) wrote: "Shifty" begins like "The Streets - the Musical" with added male awkwardness. Happily, halfway through things start to get a lot more gripping. The film does a good job of saying "drugs are bad" without demonising the people that deal or use them. All in all a decent film but not the revolution in British cinema that the hypemachine made it out to be.A final note - why do the production team act like Jason Flemyng is a great star? I'd never heard of him before this.

Valentina N (es) wrote: I remember Margaret and David reviewing this movie when it first came out a few years ago. I don't remember much else except that they both agreed Michelle Pfeiffer was excellent as the beautiful, aging courtesan who falls in love with a man half her age. I'm not into period pieces that much [unless Tom Hardy is in one and then I'm all over it like a rash], but the wait was worth it and I thought the screenplay was really clever. Definitely better than I expected. Good Saturday night film for courtesans and women and men in general. Not so much for the pious Christians among you. But art imitates life anyway, so go on, rent it too.

Alex r (ru) wrote: Third entry in the Critters franchise and it's clear right from the opening minutes, that the filmmakers have run out of ideas. Critters 3 is notable for being the acting debut of Leonardo DiCaprio. By this time, the third entry has become stale, uninspired drivel, and the fun from the first two films is replaced by a very mediocre script that recycled ideas from the first film, and has nothing new to offer the series. The acting is awful and the film is poorly constructed. The film fails at capturing the classic elements of the first two, and ends up being a tired effort that is simply boring, doesn't have anything going for it. The film could have been much better, but it doesn't, this third entry along with the fourth film are forgettable entries in the franchise that have nothing interesting to offer the series. This could have been an interesting third film, but it's obvious that all the good ideas have been used and the filmmakers were struggling to come up with something good for a third film, unfortunately, the film didn't work and it ends up being a bad one at that.
