Christopher S (ca) wrote: In terms of hockey films, no where near the comedic genius of Slap Shot but overall, a solid film. Many of the subplots tied in to the main story were very good. Excellent directing by Jay Roach. I am not the biggest Russell Crowe fan but he was pretty good as the town sheriff. Burt Reynolds was OK as the judge and coach of the team. Still, the story seemed way too far fetched even for a movie. The hockey action on the ice was pretty credible so I give them credit for that. If you don't like hockey, you will probably find this film boring.

The juxtaposition between the black and white still photographs and archival video and the color tour of the camps, abandoned but not forgotten, enhances the effect. "Schindler's List" is a great film, but this captures something that a fictional recreation cannnot.

Like many of Kubrick films, some of the performances in "Eyes Wide Shut" are unbelievably awful and I can't quite understand his use of classical music. I know there are some symbolism and hidden visual metaphors throughout the film, and it has an intriguing premise, but on an emotional level it feels somewhat unsatisfying at the end.
