Dustin I (fr) wrote: One of the most poetically romantic films to come along in quite some time! The cast and crew are flawless and create an era in life when love was raw and simplistic. Jane Campions very best!
Kurt F (au) wrote: 2/27/08 Netflix, 6/3/16 THis is like 2 movies in one. The first part is mainly about the son's relationships with people. The end is more like a thriller. It actually keeps you on the edge of your seat and is very tense. Some of it is a little far fetched, but I enjoyed how much anxiety I was feeling as I watched it. Enjoyable, but not an outstanding film.

Reno V (au) wrote: "THE BATTLE FOR BLOOD BEGINS"- 'Daybreakers' is a 2009 sci-fi horror film written and directed by the Australian Spierig Brothers (Undead, Predestination). Set in a nearby future where vampires rule the earth and the very few remaining humans are farmed for their blood. A okay vampire movie, not the best I've ever seen, but certainly entertaining due to the massive pools of blood, the intriguing story and the good cast, starring Ethan Hawke (Sinister, Assault on Precinct 13), Willam Dafoe (Spiderman, Anitchrist), Isabel Lucas (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Red Dawn) and Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, Dead Calm). 'The most precious natural source is.. us'In the near future, our world is dominated by vampires, who mostly come out at night. With only 5 percent of the human race remaining, the supply of blood is dwindling fast. When vampires start to turn on each other or begin to suck their own blood, vampire hematologist Edward Dalton (Hawke) is searching for a substitute at the pharmaceutical company Bromley Marks, that is lead by Charles Bromley (Neill). When driving home, Dalton is involved in an accident. He is surprised to see that the people in the other car are rebellious humans who are on the run and decides to help them. Shortly after that he is contacted by the humans, who want him to meet Lionel 'Elvis' Cormac (Dafoe), a man who was once a vampire and mysteriously turned human again. Is he the solution to Dalton's cure?

Easy to see why it has gained a cult following. This is definitely a gem. Grab the snacks, invite your friends, I promise you will not be let down.
