(jp) wrote: Hahaha, this movie was ridiculous!!! If you can get past the bad acting, the film centers on a college professor taking a group of stereotypes, uh, I mean students on a field trip to a random European wilderness that is inhabited by mercenaries led by none other than Coolio on the scent of an evil villian (or whatever). The forest is ALSO inhabited by crazed, cartoon Pterodactyl's the spend the entire movie ripping all of these people to shreds!! Plenty of cartoon gore to boot. Tis a shame since Mark L. Lester use to do some pretty decent films. I will say that the final ending of the movie provides a nice little twist that kinda makes me look forward to a sequel. Enjoy this schlock if you dare!

I just didn't find the stories related as well to each other as they should have. It's not a bad movie, nor is it a good one. When it works, it's quite good, but too often it fails to deliver. Robin Williams lacks the spark he usually has. A good cast is not utilized to the best of their ability. There are several very slow scenes.

Back then I thought Nicolas Cage's character was socool, now he is still kinda cool but man is there way too muchoveracting from Cage and pretty much everybody else, well except forSean Young, who kinda doesn't act, she is just there, like a cardboardcut out of her with a tape player saying her lines would have be justas real, maybe even better. Thankfully Tommy Lee Jones is great, and Ihave used the Full Tilt Boogie line a bunch of times. So, decent movie, cool helicopters and Tommy Lee Jones is just too awesome for his own good.2.5 Beards Out Of 5
(es) wrote: I am probably overrating this at five stars, but for sentimental reasons I'm gushing. At that point any kind of attempt at objective statement will undercut the humor we found in this film, and the care for the meaning of what it was trying to say, and the earnest performances. We loved this. Jack is just great. And Bruce Dern, of course. The interview afterwards, ten minutes only, was dessert to a great meal. This is not a typical movie of today by any stretch, reminded me of all the films I saw on television back in early 70s. I used to see things like this and relate like hell to the angry emotions and cries for justice, campy and corny though some of it could be. Some of the things we thrilled to while watching this included a lot of beautiful shots, and some great scenes. I loved the sex scene in the car, and this flick has my favorite how-to-beat-the-draft scene. Karen Black was not a woman I enjoyed much on film when I was younger, but whenever I see her now I'm head-over-heels in love. She's great, was always great, and beautiful, and still is today, and will always be, beautiful. Who knew Jack directed something like this? I find myself relating to Jack the director more maybe than I ever did as an actor. Comes as a bit of a surprise because I never did before, not like this. Great actor and at times a great voice telling his story.
