Larger Than Life
Motivational Speaker Jack Corcoran is determined to get his career off the ground, but the biggest gigs he can get are the ones nobody wants. Then one day, he receives a telegram that his circus clown father has passed away, and has left a "huge" inheritance. When he gets there, he finds that his inheritance has come in the form of an elephant that was his father's pride and joy in circus acts. His main intention is to sell the pachyderm off. Jack must choose between loud and rude zookeeper Mo or attractive animal show owner Terry. As the two treks through the country Jack and the elephant develop a bond, and it changes his approach on life for the better.

The film brilliantly finds a common ground for audience to resonate with its themes even with its "spiritual" and "psychic" elements regarding incarnations and parallel universe.

It's all over the place, and it's very unpredictable. All I can say, it's an enjoyable out-of-control ride with fast, quirky, cartoonish dialogue and the most strangest of fictionalized worlds. I actually liked it!
(fr) wrote: The film gets a thumbs up based mainly on the strong performances by Jones, Theron and Sarandon who, while showing little range, still manage great depth. The "mystery" aspect of the story is a bit of a failure, though, and the great reveal is a let down to be sure. The overall message is powerful but could have been approached in much more effective ways. In the end, the film doesn't seem to know if it wants to be whodunnit or social/political message and the two sides end up muddled and unsatisfying. Still, the film is watchable thanks to the mesmerizing talents involved.

(ag) wrote: Yes, it's Troma. Yes, it looks like it was made for about 10 dollars. Yes, it's not even remotely scary. Honestly though, Buttcrack is one of the most amusing zombie films I've ever seen, and yes, it had me laughing my ass off. I loved it. Buttcrack is about two roommates, one of whom is growing increasingly annoyed with his overweight and superbly-annoying roommate, Wade, who walks around with his buttcrack exposed throughout the entire film. One day, after Wade ruins his roommates attempt at proposing to his girlfriend, the roommate accidentally kills Wade. As luck would have it, Wade's sister practices voodoo and knows how he really died so she rises him from the grave to take revenge. Oh, and anyone who stares as Wade's new zombie buttcrack turns into a vicious ghoul. It's up to the local preacher (rockabilly and occasional actor Mojo Nixon) to start throwing around bibles and shotgun shells in this incredibly bad-but-hilarious film. The two standouts (without a doubt) would have to be the Wade character (Caleb Kreischer in his only role unfortunately) and Mojo Nixon who provide the most laughs (intentionally, I hope). This movie is pure rubbish, but very entertaining...much like any other Troma film. Definitely worth a watch!
